It would be a great idea IF you had someone there to talk to.
There already are several secure+encrypted+fully-open-source chat programs, but it's hard to convince your family and friends to use it, so it would be a bit waste of resources to build that app.

Agreed, no need to start a new project. This already exists. There are lots of things that don't exist, no need to spend time on the things that do exist.

Paying $30 per month, is ,in my opinion, a steal for all the services you provide.

In my opinion, ProtonChat should automatically delete messages that are older than two days, unless a user will save them in special folder, for example as "to do", "reminder", etc. This would allow to save space on servers and of course to improve security. For users usually there is no need to come back do messages that we send on daily basis.

It would be better to use the gold standard for security. SIGNAL. It's available for all platforms and is open source.

I use maybe a dozen methods of messaging both email and i.m I use whatsapp, wire, imessage, telegram, email and so on. The only one that breaks my workflow is proton mail by forcing me to log in with manual typing every time on every device, as a result I have found I tend to avoid using it; which isn't ideal. Protonmail is probably the best, but I need it to work (meaning to flow) seamlessly. Please. If this is my user error I will be very happy to hear it :-)

i hate it when people request things that already exist. for proton drive use mega.nz or pcloud or trezorit. for proton messaging use signal or wire. for password management use dashlane or bitwarden for web browseing use firefox or tor / brave any other protony ideas? they exist

Hangouts is a way on Gmail to send instant messages to each other or instant emails
if you will. Both people have to be in their Gmail at the same time to send and receive
the messages. If some one sends you a message using hangouts and your not in your

I already can't get my contacts to use anything other than plain SMS. Another messaging option is not going to change that.

There are so many messaging app already, we should focus on emails and how to improve it with personalized tools.
