1. Markdown Editor in Proton Mail

   In addition to the WYSIWYG and plain text editor, add a Markdown text editor to Proton Mail. The markdown is then converted the moment the email is being sent.

   The main reason I asked for this are code blocks. Also, I would like to be able to define another formatting for text between backticks to make it more obvious than just monospace text.

2. Slideshow in Proton Drive - Photos

   As a user, I would like to have a slideshow feature in order to play a short movie of my souvenirs of certain event.
   It would be available in each album as a button next to {Add photos, download, share}, but also as an appearing button when several photos are selected.
   When clicking, a small panel will appear with some default options checked and a button “launch slideshow”. The options would be about the duration of each photo, the transition effect and others (I would avoid cringe/elevators music though).
   Complementary feature: this slideshow could be shared as a private video link on socials, or downloaded locally.

4. Proton Calendar - I would like to switch from Google to Proton to track my client meetings but I'm not able to include files

   I need to include .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .jpeg, .png files and do not have that capability in Proton Calendar.

5. A Proton Social Media Platform

   Having an uncensored platform to express ideas would be a game changer in the world of social media. X, (formerly "Twitter"), as well as Gab, Truth Social, Parler, et. al., have moderators who decide what is acceptable. This is NOT free speech. What one person (or moderator), finds offensive, another may find humorous or innocuous or blustering rhetoric. Freedom to express ideas and opinions, even ones that some might find offensive, (i.e. war, race, gender, ethnicity, etc.,) or anything else that might hurt someone's feelings should be absolute. Having filters in place where users can choose whether or not to see certain topics in their feeds would be a way to protect the feelings of users who believe that free speech should exclude anything that the individual considers offensive. When any rules are in place, someone somewhere is having their right to speak freely restricted or prohibited. While most individuals have something that they find offensive, (for me, crossing the line would be anything to do with promoting or advocating child/elderly/animal abuse, human trafficking, stalking, to name a few), protecting everyone's feelings all the time is impossible and impractical. While the idea of an uncensored social media platform will definitely generate push-back, "Free Speech" is just that; FREE. Yes, there will be attention-seeking individuals and trolls that will post content designed solely to illicit a response, it's not my place (or anyone else's), to censor them. For content that others find outlandish, inappropriate or even garish, the solution is simple; don't engage with them. The community as a whole will decide what it finds offensive and that alone will serve as its own form of censorship.

   Isolated Password for Authenticator Sync

   As a security-conscious Proton user who uses the Proton Authenticator App,
   I want to establish a dedicated, separate password exclusively for the account sync feature on the Proton Authenticator App,
   So that a compromise of my primary Proton account credentials does not automatically grant a bad actor the ability to sync my TOTP seeds to a Proton Authenticator App they control (this assumes the bad actor has also disabled 2FA for the Proton account).

   Acceptance Criteria (AC)

   AC 1: Separate Credentialing

   The user can configure an independent "Authenticator App Sync Password" inside the Proton Account Settings.

   By default, this password must not be identical to the primary account password.

   AC 2: Separate Credential Update

   The user can update the independent "Authenticator App Sync Password" inside the Proton Account Settings without first needing to enter the existing password (this is to cater for the forgot password scenario in a way that does not block the user from changing the password)

   By default, any update of this password must also not be identical to the primary account password.

   AC 3: TOTP Sync Isolation

   The primary Proton account password alone must be insufficient to trigger a sync of the TOTP seeds on a new device if an independent "Authenticator App Sync Password" has been set.

   AC 4: Emergency Sync Revocation (The "Kill Switch")

   If the user changes this separate Authenticator password from the web account settings, the system must immediately terminate sync sessions across all connected Proton Authenticator apps.

   Existing apps must stop syncing until their account sync credentials have been updated to use the new password. This is to prevent a bad actor using this technique in order to synced access to TOTPs after account compromise (this assumes the bad actor has also disabled 2FA for the Proton account).

   AC 5: Attacker Mitigation (expansion of AC 4 above)

   If an attacker changes the sync password from a compromised account, it will not cause existing, legitimate Authenticator App instances to push/sync their current data without the sync password being updated within those instances (this assumes the bad actor has also disabled 2FA for the Proton account).

   Isolated Password for Authenticator Sync

   As a security-conscious Proton user who uses the Proton Authenticator App,

8. Ability to filter on Proton Mail by the email address it is sending to you

   Especially with the connection to Gmail, and especially with the already existing ability of up to 10+ alternative emails leading to the same inbox, we need the ability near the top of proton mail to "Filter by Address", with checkboxes for each of your email.

   For example, if I have 3 Proton Emails, and my Gmail Account (PersonalProton1@pm.me, BusinessProton2@pm.me, MiscProton3@pm.me, Gmail@gmail.com), but I only want to see the emails for my business email (BusinessProton2@pm.me), I need to simply have a checkbox to only include inbox messages coming to that specific address (BusinessProton2@pm.me).

   Now, this is theoretically possible by going into filters, than more filter settings, then adding a specific recepitant address, but this is not only extremely time consuming just to filter these emails, but extremely unconventional.

   You should make it to where it's a quick checkbox mark of your listed emails. It's fast, easy, and EXTREMELY useful.

   This will be especially helpful with the new Gmail linking(s).

9. Let us use Proton as a login option on third-party websites (OAuth/SSO)

   Right now, most websites let you sign in with Google, Facebook, GitHub, or Microsoft. Sure, it's convenient, but these companies literally track everything you do across the web.

   I think Proton should offer something similar - a "Sign in with Proton" button that works like those other options, but actually respects our privacy. It would use standard OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect, so any developer could easily integrate it.

   Why this would be awesome:

   No tracking or data mining from Big Tech companies

   Fits perfectly with Proton's privacy mission

   One secure account for multiple services (with our existing 2FA)

   Gives developers a privacy-focused alternative

   Strengthens the whole Proton ecosystem

   How it could work:

   Standard OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect implementation

   Only share the bare minimum (email, maybe name if we choose)

   2FA protection inherited from our Proton account

   A dashboard to manage which apps have access

   Proper documentation for developers

   This would position Proton as a real alternative to the current authentication giants and make it easier for people to move away from Big Tech without sacrificing convenience.

    Proton is often seen as a nonprofit, but in reality it operates as a private company, Proton AG, with the Proton Foundation as a majority shareholder. This structure is designed to protect its mission, but many users are not fully aware of how it works or what guarantees it provides long term.

    Proton asks users to trust that its incentives will always stay aligned with privacy. While that may be true today, long term trust is harder to evaluate without some visibility into ownership and financial direction. For example, WhatsApp was once widely seen as privacy-focused, but shifts in ownership and business pressures changed how it operates over time. Proton is asking for a similar level of long-term trust, so additional transparency would help reinforce confidence.

    Providing a small set of high level, non-sensitive statistics would go a long way in building confidence. Here are some key indicators that could meaningfully improve transparency:

    • Voting control: What percentage of voting shares are held by the Proton Foundation vs private investors
    • Board composition: How many seats in Proton AG’s Board of Directors are tied to the Foundation vs private owners
    • Basic revenue breakdown: Subscriptions, donations, merch, etc (as percentages, since absolute figures may be sensitive)

    These are not requests for detailed financial disclosures or anything that would harm competitiveness. They are simple, aggregated signals that help users understand whether Proton’s structure and incentives are likely to remain aligned with its stated values over time.

    I have a folder of old Outlook MSG files from a completed client project. Some emails are part of legal communication and need to be saved in PDF format for long-term records. 15. Nudge users to change their master password periodically

    I think it would be helpful if Proton would periodically (perhaps quarterly? At least annually) nudge users to change their master passwords.
    Because the initial nudge might come when someone doesn't have time to update their password, perhaps the user could "snooze" the nudge.

    I can't find the Proton Lumo below 'Give feedback' on the right column so I'm posting here.

    I'm using bots everyday and find the custom bot feature very important. Just some text config and a name for a custom bot should be nice.

    Sometimes the generic mood of the bot is not so prefered, a custom bot with fixed info to define a personal assistant in owner's style is good to have. The fitting style of language is better for conversation, like a pal, not a stranger.

    Some guys are with such custom bot and free: Gemini Gem, Instagram AI Studio.

    Proton is already where I secure my emails, files, and passwords. As the world pushes toward more digital verification (often in invasive ways), I want a “Proton-native” way to verify my identity without handing over my sensitive data to Big Tech or state-surveillance-aligned systems.

    Privacy: Proton’s core value is encrypting data so even Proton can’t see it. SSI/ZKP is the natural evolution: let the system provide a “Zero-Knowledge Proof” to a third party (like “I am over 21” or “I am a verified resident”) without me ever having to share my actual ID, age, or address.

    Safety: It’s a huge liability to share scans of physical IDs to websites. A “Proton Identity Wallet” would allow us to generate these proofs locally and share only what is strictly necessary.

    Independence: Moving to a non-custodial standard is the best defense against KYC-based surveillance.

    If Proton can move into managing identity claims as securely as you manage data, you would become the gold standard for personal sovereignty online.

    Excerpt from get.new: .new is a domain extension exclusively for performing new actions online: any act that leads to creation can have a quick and memorable new shortcut associated with it. Help your customers take action faster. Less time clicking means more time creating.

    It would be extremely convenient to use proton.new for creating things in Proton. Everything I can think of:
    proton.new/doc - New document
    proton.new/sheet - New sheet
    proton.new/mail & proton.new/email - New email
    proton.new/event - New calendar event
    proton.new/meeting - New meeting

    I think the plural forms of the words should work, too: doc & docs, event & events, etc. You could also use the subdomain for this: docs.proton.new, mail.proton.new, etc.

    proton.new by itself or with an invalid path (proton.new/whatever) should lead to a dashboard where you can quickly select whether you are creating a new email, document, etc.
