How can we improve Proton Pass?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

  1. Hide notes content by default

    As soon as I open the web portal or app, the notes are visible on screen. This is poor security, as anyone around me or a camera can read my entire screen.

    Notes should be hidden until I choose to unhide them individually. Apple Notes for example has e locking feature that keeps content hidden until I choose to unlock a note.

  3. Don't switch to moved vault after moving login

    Organizing logins into vaults is extremely cumbersome if I want to move hundreds of logins from the default vault into their respective vaults.

    Click "Personal", find login, move to correct vault, UI gets switched to destination vault.

  5. Offline access

    It would be helpful if you could add, amend or do other things in Pass when there is no internet connection. It’s prohibitive without this ability.

  6. Golbal Contacts

    Global Contacts in Proton Pass:
    A roadmap to enable Global (persistent and the same across products) Contacts...

    1. Create a new "item" type in Proton Pass - "Contacts"
    2. Create name, address, birth day, etc. be sub-fields.
    3. Create a "visible in Pass only" feature for "Contacts"
    4. In Proton Mail and Pass Settings create a feature to toggle on contact sharing with Proton Pass - this auto-populates Mail contacts to the "Contacts" section of Pass
    5. Allow for non-"visible in Pass only" Contacts to be searchable for sharing Calendars and Drive
    6. Allow for Calendar and Drive

    Personally I would be happy with just 1…

  7. Import folders to Proton Pass folders or separate vaults

    I use Keepass and it has folders. When I import from it, it imports all Keepass folder into one vault. Either import each folder into a separate vault or let me choose which Keepass folder to use.

  8. Travel icon

    Like an airplane taking off, maybe a car? Seems like the icons could be changed to reflect categories a bit better. Aesthetically they could be improved as well. Like more color or details.

  9. Reorder vaults

    Aside for more vaults and subvaults we need a way to reorganize the order of the vaults. Rn the newest one created is at the top and the oldest at the botton. This is in the web app. I need a way to reorder them like tags in protonmail

  10. Send vaults to trash instead of intstant delete

    Add vaults to trash.
    Right now if you delete an entire vault it is deleted permanently while if you delete only one element it goes to trash. Please make so that also if you delete an entire vault, the entire vault goes to trash.

  12. Synced PIN code

    I switched from Dashlane. I liked how the PIN code for DL was synced to all devices. Would it be possible to get a synced PIN for PP?

  13. Autofill multiple fields (including custom fields)

    Provide the ability for Proton Pass to recognize and autofill additional fields (beyond just username and password). I have accounts that require at least three entries on the login screen (e.g., company ID, username, password). Currently, Proton Pass fills the company ID with my username and leaves the username blank, so I have to cut/paste the username to the correct field and copy/paste the company ID to that field. There is already a Company ID field present in my account info (imported from 1Password, which handled this flawlessly), but Proton Pass doesn't recognize or use that information.

  14. Show vaults on the 'Log in as...' window

    I use a separate vault for different businesses/companies. For some, I have different logins for the same site. e.g. Microsoft. But there is no way of knowing which login is from which vault. (Some sites I can identify the user name). But some sites the user name doesn't help. To work around this I have renamed the 'pass name'. e.g. Microsoft (ABC co.), Microsoft (XYZ Co.) But the field displayed in the 'Log in as...' window is quite small. Ideally it would show the vault and avoid these work arounds and time wasted in doing it. (I've gone back to…

  15. Web App should not sync session auto lock preferences

    The Proton Pass web app should not sync the auto lock preferences with the extension.
    Usually you want a short auto lock time for the extension, since it is used for shorts amounts of time (eg. filling or saving a password), but when you are using the web app you are usually doing something that may require more time (eg. editing a note, organising passwords ecc.), so you are forced to set a longer time for the auto lock every time you use the Web App, and if you forget to set it back you may have a less secure…

  17. See whole title in Chrome extension

    The Chrome Proton Pass extension displays a very limited number of characters of the login title. If I want to see the full title, I have to click the edit button.

    It would be very useful to allow us to see the whole title. Perhaps by displaying it in a tooltip upon mouse over.

  19. Support Android 7

    I have an old-ish Honor 8 phone that has an Android 7 OS.
    If it's at all possible, I would be happy if Proton Pass could support Android 7.

  20. Suggest existing alias when one exists for a website

    When entering email on a website, the Firefox extension suggests either real email address or hide my email, but the hide my email address is always a new one, not an existing one for the same website. This could easily unnecessarily create extra clutter/confusion especially when checking out "as guest". Option to create a new alias is good, so you're not limited to the single alias for a site (like iCloud's hide my email), but easily entering existing alias is more important.
