Allow computer audio to be shared without sharing screen
I would like to be able to share my computer audio without sharing my screen.
My camera video should still be shared.
This is critical functionality for those of us who use video calls to facilitate online workshops. Often, practices such as guided meditations require the use of accompanying music, and it would be distracting to participants if I shared my music app screen with them.
I currently use this functionality on Zoom, and I cannot switch to Proton Meet until this functionality is in place.
I know of other facilitators who have the same requirements for their events.
I hope this functionality is added soon, because I would love to use Proton Meet instead of Zoom! I very much value the privacy that Proton Meet would offer. 🙏

I agree that this is more than a niche feature for online workshops. Sharing system audio independently from screen sharing is useful for music, guided sessions, presentations, and anything where participants need to hear the audio but don't need to see the application producing it.
Ideally, Meet would let you keep the camera on, leave screen sharing completely off, and simply select computer/system audio as a separate source. That would also make the workflow much cleaner than having to share an entire desktop just to transmit audio.
For facilitators who already rely on this in Zoom, it's probably one of those small features that becomes a hard requirement rather than a nice-to-have. Hopefully Proton adds independent audio sharing, because otherwise privacy-conscious users may still be forced to keep another video platform around just for this use case. On a related note, having a simple Universal TV Remote Control option would be a nice convenience for people who use their devices across different setups.
Being able to manage TV functions from one Universal TV Remote Control without switching between several separate apps would make the overall experience feel much more streamlined.

Hi Team! Audio sharing is essential for presentations and live sessions. At a minimum, enabling MP3 downloads would allow facilitators to play music while guests wait and during meetings - this is very much needed. Would love to see this prioritized. Thank you for all your work!

Some workarounds for the meantine:
* If you are on MacOS you can use Rogue Amoeba's loopback software to create a virtual audio device that absorbs the sounds from apps and your microphone, and use that as your input device. On Linux, this you can use CrossPipe by dp0sk.
* You could use a a virtual hdmi dummy device, to setup a fake display that just has a black background or whatever, so do a screenshare but it isn't distracting.

Currently use this same functionality on Zoom for gaming sessions several times per month. I cannot move to Proton Meet without it.
