It would be nice, but Proton VPN on F-droid doesn't work:
    - Get the latest app from Play Store > Enable Split Tunneling > Exclude Android Auto > Android Auto works
    - Get the latest app from F-Droid > Enable Split Tunneling > Exclude Android Auto > Android Auto does not work (the connection fails and the Android Auto complains about a VPN being active)

If we get Proton apps on F-Droid (which I'd very much like), we also need a way to make sure they work identically.

It should be fairly easy to implement this for Mac / iOS apps:

Apple has clear documentation on how to do this:

It is absolutely critical that Contacts integrate with my Android phone somehow - not having this made my move from Google to Proton pretty much useless since my Android phone contacts came from Google and removing that account meant no more contacts in my phone. I did back them up to Proton but what good are they if I cannot use them conveniently?
