I have limited or no use for many Proton features. For example, I have no use for the calendar nor the multiple email options, email domains, etc. End to end encryption on email and VPN, coupled with Proton's dedication to encryption and privacy, and open source have been the main reason I use Proton. I have recently started using Proton Drive, and was going to upgrade my account to the maximum amount of backup space..... until I realized I could not select folders and files to be excluded from backup and sync. This is unworkable for me, causing me to not only stop using the sync option altogether, manually uploading only mission critical folders and files, but it has stopped me from upgrading to the best Proton plan available. I don't mind paying the price for Proton services at all and have been happy with it in almost all ways (even though I pay for features I don't need or use!), but Proton Drive does not meet my needs in terms of storage in anyway shape or form, and thus it does not meet my privacy needs at this time. At this point I am not willing to spend more money on features that I DON'T USE in order to get more storage without the means to have more input in my use of Proton Drive. I don't need everything on my computer backed up or synced, only certain things. With all due respect and praise for Proton Mail and its other services, please make Proton Drive a more robust tool that meets the needs of Proton users. I have no plans to stop using Proton, I'm simply going to restrain myself from upgrading to more expensive plans until Proton Drive works better and is more robust in its features.
Thank you!
P.S. I also wish Proton was NOT going to a “nonprofit status.” Profits drive innovation and good services/products, and profit loss does the same in reverse proportion. Profit promotes hard work and competition, which is always good in a free market.
