There are browser extensions which allow doing it when you use Proton in your browser, so I'm not sure that it would be a necessity to having it into Proton Mail.

I agree. I think it would be good to do it not only for the app but also for the help documentation. There's an open-sourced software called Obsidian working this way and the result is that it exist in many languages. Thus, even if it's open sourced, the user's personal data are still confidential and encrypted.
The translation work can be done in GitHub. This is the platform where I am currently participating in the translation of the Obsidian Help documentation to the French.Antoine Kachler supported this idea ·
It would better to use Markdown format than creating a Proton format because Markdown is universal so it facilitates interoperability with other note-taking systems.
