I signed up for Proton drive specifically to share photos. I am currently in the process of moving all those photos to a drive folder instead of an album because of the increased friction in organizing and sharing photos/album compared to folders. The specific problems I would call out:
- Copying/moving photos between "Photos" and Drive is impossible.
- It is not possible to make sub-albums or folders within albums or to tag photos for organizing.
- It is not possible to share albums with a generated link.
Complaints with the general sharing functionality that also affect drive:
- The UI for managing sharing is a tiny popup that you have to scroll through. It looks like Google's which is not a compliment. There's no way to sort the people, do batch operations, resend links, see when invites were sent, but I'm getting off topic now.
