Like Cassian, I am puzzled by those opposing the option of a lifetime plan. This is something that would appeal to many users (and certainly to many prospective users who are a weary of having everything digital in their life tied to a subscription). One possibility is to allow a "lifetime" purchase for certain elements (e.g., Proton Drive), while having others only available through a monthly or year subscription (e.g., Mail and VPN). For many users, myself included, this would be a "best of both worlds" situation that would give me greater confidence in Proton in the long-term. There are certain services I am more than happy to pay a subscription for, at a fair price, but there are others (cloud data storage) which I would rather not leave to the vicissitudes of subscriptions.
