1. More drive space for unlimited plan

   Is it possible to get more storage by default than 500 GB in the unlimited plan? Microsoft, Google both give 2TB for their premium plans. The only options for upgrade on Proton seem to be a completely additional duo plan or family plan. If I do pay for the additional duo plan, does that mean I get 1 TB plus 500GB = 1.5 TB? I keep getting alarms to upgrade my Proton Drive unlimited plan and would like to upgrade, but not at another $14.99/month for what would only be 500GB more storage.

2. Integrate Standard Notes Premium plan with Proton Visionary

   I would like to suggest adding the standard Notes Premium feature to the Proton Visionary plan. Since Proton promotes Visionary as the ultimate subscription giving users the maximum limits and access across all Proton services, it would make sense for Notes Premium to be included as part of that promise.

   Currently, Proton Visionary subscribers already receive integrated access to SimpleLogin, which is technically a separate service that Proton has incorporated into its ecosystem. Given this precedent, including Notes Premium—even though it is also a distinct service—would be consistent with the Visionary plan’s positioning as the all-inclusive plan.

   This integration would enhance the user experience by truly offering all core Proton services at their highest limits within one subscription, reinforcing Proton Visionary's value and exclusivity.

3. Student discounts shouldn't only last one year

   Many other subsciption services like Spotify for example have at least opted for 4 years max, which would make way more sense since that is a realistic duration of studying. Affording your own privacy shouldn't be a privilege which you have to get into financial trouble for as a student.

5. Family Plan - Slider selectable options for greater storage and user flexibility choices

   Overall Family plan issue:
   I see people wanting different things for the Family Plan, some say there is too much storage (I personally do not agree with this), some say it needs more storage, others say it needs to allow for more users, while others want certain services and other don't want certain services.

   It seems to me we are running up against the truth that 'there is no standard family', so the standard 6 member / 500 gb per member model doesn't fit the needs of many. We need a more flexible offering to attract more people over to Proton

   I propose a slider style option, where people select the components that are important to their family and the price adjusts accordingly on the Family Plan.

   Slider/Selectable options could include (Not all of these have to be implemented, they are just a starting list)

   1. Number of members (3-10+)
      You could have 2-10 if you want to roll duo plan into family and remove the duo tier, simplifying offerings

   2. Storage
      500gb - 1TB per user selectable.
      At present I think the family plan is poor storage value. You effectively get 500mb/user (6 users, 3TB in total).
      Duo gives you 2TB (1 TB per user) and Professional gives you 1TB per user, making Family plan look rather shabby when it comes to total storage compared.

   3. Pricing overall
      Using $x times the number of users quickly gets too costly for most families.
      A sliding discounts model based on the more members you sign up the greater the discount might do well here. Retailers use this to increase bulk sales.
      I realise there is a base cost that must be covered with profit but when one compares the cost of say the Professional plan $7.99 on discount x's 6 users with double the storage those 6 users on Professional would get, it makes the family plan discount somewhat merger in terms of cost savings.
      I think more tweaking could be done here to bolster family plan value

   4. Product inclusions
      This one is obviously tricky and could get messy in terms of product tracking but maybe having some of the products that are included be optional for a further reduction could be looked at.

   I personally am ok with the products included in the family plan but if we are to consider tweaking of the family plan, then all options should be considered

   Is it all too hard?:
   For those that think this is all too hard in terms of product offerings, in a previous lifetime I used to work in some large Telco's and we had moved some of our service offerings to this sliding selectable model and it worked.

   The hardest part wasn't the technical implementation it was convincing marketing and the business who want dedicated forecasts and defined projections to loosen up and try different things to remain competitive. Obviously you needs checks and balances in place, like limiting the plan changes per quarter or whatever your financial forecasting models are based on but that's easily doable.

   Once you go down this path you start to see that this slider selection model can be applied to other plans also.

6. Lumo Plus subscription should be completely independent from existing Proton subscription

   Make it possible to subscribe to Lumo Plus independently from an ongoing Unlimited/Duo/Family subscription. As it is, I cannot subscribe to Lumo Plus for one month while keeping my ongoing 24-months subscription. The only option is to convert my 24 months subscription to a 12 months subscription and add a 12 months Lumo Plus subscription. That is not what I want, so I will not try Lumo Plus for the time being.

8. allow users to buy services à la carte

   Allow users to by services à la carte. For example being able to purchase Drive+ and Mail+ without being forced to pay for the Unlimited bundle.

   The current system incentivizes users to break the TOS since its usually cheaper to have separate accounts with an individual service attached if you don't require the majority of benefits included with Unlimited.

9. A reduced price Meet option for Unlimited Plan subscribers.

   I would subscribe to Proton Meet if there were a lower priced option for existing Unlimited Plan subscribers that allowed for longer meetings. I typically have 2 meetings every two months, but their duration can be up to 4 hours. This is for non-commercial use by groups of retired persons. - The business plans are too expensive as is for this type of use.

   Perhaps I am an outlier from a marketing point of view, but I thought that I would mention this. My fall-back is to continue to use Jitsi.

10. Unlimited hide-my-email aliases in all plans

    When considering to offer an additional value to users, the free Proton Mail plan should include unlimited hide-my-email aliases. This will distinct you from other mail providers. At the moment it is rather annoying that aliases are limited to 10 aliases.

    Add shared Folders or a Common proton drive for all proton users within a business plan of one company.

    It would be great to have a company wide proton drive where ieach folder can have access rights for a List of users.

12. Benefits + locking in long term users

    I was thinking of a good and healthy way for both users and company to support long term users.

    I got to this idea.

    Every year a customer has a subscription they get 1% more lifetime discount. (Until the subscription is cancelled)
    So after 1 year you get 1%
    2 years 2%
    That goes up to a maximum for example 25% after being a loyal customer for 25 years.
    Or 50% after 50 years that's up to the company what they feel good about.

    If you cancel your subscription once (or can't pay it) you lose all the build up discount earned and you need to start over.
    Upgrading plans to for example a family plan or downgrading a plan should be possible without losing the discount.
    If you downgrade to a completely free account you lose the discount.
    This way long term users will want to keep their earned discount by continuing the subscription. But they will also feel happy they are not forgotten and actually receive a cheaper price then newer users.

    The company ensures that they have paying users over the long term and the users have a very good discount the longer they stay.

    I'm also specifically talking about a discount because the company can still raise the base price of the subscriptions if they want or need to.

    Lastly I the company can still promote their products with a black Friday price giving them 50% or maybe the maximum discount earned after being loyal for x amount of years. But they will only get that price the first year and each account can only use that promotion once.
    That way they would need to make a new account and email every year if they want to keep getting the black Friday promo for example. (I think this happens now also from time to time)

    What do you guys think about this?

13. [Proton Meet] One simultaneous meeting but increase meeting duration for individuals

    I would like to propose a small but meaningful improvement to Proton Meet within the Duo and Family plans.

    Currently, Proton Meet allows only one active meeting at a time and limits meeting duration (e.g. 60 minutes on non-professional tiers). While this is understandable from a product segmentation perspective, it creates friction for one specific use case: private family conversations.

    Proposal

    For Proton Duo and Proton Family plans:

    • Keep the restriction of one simultaneous meeting
    • Increase the maximum meeting duration to ~3 hours
    • Optionally limit longer meetings to ~10-12 participants

    Rationale

    This change would enable a very specific and important use case:
    secure, private family communication - without turning these plans into business-grade conferencing tools.

    • The single active meeting limit already prevents business or commercial use
    • A participant cap (10-12 people) aligns well with real-world family needs
    • Extending duration removes the need to reconnect every hour during meaningful conversations

    Privacy impact

    Proton Meet is one of the few solutions offering end-to-end encrypted video calls where even Proton cannot access the content.

    Longer meetings in family-oriented plans would allow users to:

    • discuss personal matters (health, relationships, finances)
    • maintain family bonds across countries
    • avoid exposing sensitive conversations to Big Tech platforms

    Today, many families are still forced to rely on Google Meet, WhatsApp, or similar tools - not because they prefer them, but because they are more practical for longer calls.

    Product positioning

    This is a low-impact change:

    • no new infrastructure tier required
    • no change to concurrency limits
    • no overlap with Meet Professional (which offers 24h meetings, large groups, and business features)

    At the same time, it significantly increases the value of Duo and Family plans and could drive adoption among privacy-conscious households.

    Personal note

    I would strongly appreciate introducing this change to Duo and Family plans. It would make Proton a complete, privacy-first alternative not only for individuals, but also for families.

    Also, thank you to the Proton team for launching Proton Docs and Spreadsheets - these are important steps toward a true privacy-respecting alternative to Google Workspace. Looking forward to future tools like presentations and drawing capabilities.

14. Onetime payment for lifetime Proton Unlimited

    There is some things I see that I would never use in the Mail plus/proton pass plan, but I really would like to just pay once. I like the idea of having a 50-99year "unlimited/lifetime" since once I'm gone you can either forward the logins to a designated person I say and give them 90 days to download the archive, or just shred/delete everything once I leave the earth.

    I despise monthly payments. Its the principal of it and the fact some cars have DLC for things already built into the car is crazy. Let me bite the bullet, and you can even let me pick and choose what I want vs not so you aren't wasting resources on features I'll never use. Also I could have 3 things hitting one account causing a possible overdraft over forgetfulness.

    I propose a Proton Unlimited Lite plan that bundles exactly those essentials:
    • Proton Mail (basic inbox)
    • 20–30 GB of Proton Drive for secure document backup
    • Proton Pass for password management (including 2FA)
    • Optional family add‑on so households can share the same subscription

    The current “Mail Pro” tier feels over‑engineered—too many email aliases and unnecessary features—while the full “Unlimited” suite advertises everything (500 GB, 10 VPN connections, crypto wallet, calendar, etc.) that most regular users will never use. 16. E-Mail confirmation upon changing or cancelling subscriptions

    Currently, I do not receive any written confusion when changing or cancelling a subscription. For the sake if transparency and accountability this should be foreseen. Also, I want to know how much I pay yearly and monthly and in which plan I am. This definitely needs improvements.

17. Make Visionary Plan Visible on All Proton Services Webpages

    I don't think it makes sense that the visionary plan can only be seen on the wallet webpage. Why isn't proton visionary visible when you look at the plans for every of the Proton services? I didn't even know there was a visionary plan until I joined the discord and I could see the role, but when I went through the Proton website I couldn't find it until someone sent me a link which showed me it can only be found on the wallet plans webpage, which doesn't make sense to me.

18. Purchase extra domains

    It was possible to purchase extra domains before the rebranding. I’d like to see that feature returned across all plans including Visionary, especially given the feature exists for business accounts.

    While I appreciate a lot of effort went into creating the current individual, family, and business plans, some of us have a lot of domains and are therefore forced to stick with less privacy friendly but more flexible email providers. Let me add as many as I need for $x per domain.

19. Include just SOME of the paid Standard Notes features with Proton Unlimited

    Personally, I'd love to see the following paid Standard Notes features included with Proton Unlimited for free:
    -write and edit markdown and rich text, checklists, code snippets, and more with the powerful Super note type
    -create spreadsheets with advanced formulas and rich formatting
    -use the web clipper to save web pages as notes

    I understand maybe there are contractual or financial reasons Proton can't make the ENTIRE $120 Standard Notes Professional plan included with the Proton Unlimited Plan (which ironically is the same price). But the free version of Standard Notes is really pretty rudimentary, and I'm guessing 99% of us who aren't lottery winners don't want to double our Proton subscription for tons of other Standard Notes features mostly useful to professional journalists.

    But those 3 features above I think would really enhance the usefulness of Standard Notes to Proton Unlimited subscribers, while still maintaining extra value for journalists and others who can justify spending more for the extra features.

    Perhaps it would be easier to make a 4th Standard Notes Tier (in addition to Free, Productivity, and Professional) called "Value" or something, and you could charge $20 for it, but then include that with Proton Unlimited. Just my two cents. I hope you'll consider it.

    Reply from Simple Login Alias
    If an email is received via forwarding from a simple login alias, I want the ability to reply to the sender through the proton email web client without leaking my proton email address. Currently, email replies originate from my proton email. Emails received from a simple login forwarding alias should default to the simple login alias in the 'Sent From' field if I reply to the email.
