    It wouldn't even have to be encrypted, but a way to download all messages would in any case be highly beneficial:
    - I might not want to have my mails sitting in the cloud for all eternity... not even at protonmail. So old mails could be downloaded, archived locally and removed from the server.
    - It is always a good idea to have a local backup in case the service is discontinued some day or a major data loss occurs.
