If ProtonMail Plus is too expensive for you, there is a free plan. It's very possible to use ProtonMail without paying.

The issue with lifetime plans is that this is a service, not a commodity.

You will cost ProtonMail money in server time, storage costs, and bandwidth costs, and those costs continue over time. A one time payment has to be large enough to cover all your potential use going forward.

A very limited quantity of lifetime plans were offered previously, at $1337 each.

There is no feasible way for a one time payment to cover the recurring costs of having you as a customer, without being prohibitively expensive.

"With companys like google buying up all the alternative browsers I think this a needed program/app. What good is the secure email when Chrome is snap shoting and keylogging your protonmail logins."

Google isn't the one doing this. Some third party analytic software does keylog user interactions with the website. I can assure you those third party analytic tools are not present on protonmail.com.

Also since a browser is client software, and most internet tracking is not from the browser but from third parties, a Proton Browser wouldn't have any impact on tracking. The extensions mentioned below will.

If you're looking to conceal your physical location, consider ProtonVPN.

As other have said, try existing browsers that do this.

    Some good extensions are:
    - uBlock Origin
    - HTTPS Everywhere
    - Privacy Badger
    - uMatrix (advanced)

A browser is out of the scope of this project, and is very complicated.

Read receipts are notoriously unreliable, as there is no standard for them. They often only work for users on the same service and with compatible mail clients.

Many users also disable them for privacy reasons.

If ProtonMail implemented this it would not work correctly with any external address, and the vast majority of ProtonMail users would disable it.

"Custom domain options allow students to use their EDU domain email with proton mail's superior service"

No it wouldn't, as a university student doesn't have access to change the domain's MX settings.
