In this era everyone is using an mobile device with an fingerprint scanner in it. why don`t you use fingerprints for authentication and as well as the traditional password based authentication. A separate finger print with passwords can decrypt a mailbox. This way the authentication process can be made more secure. When logging in from a computer a finger print authentication could be done on the smart phone first and then allowing a user to log in on computer after. Yes, it will take a little time consuming, i`m using proton mail because of its security and features no other service provider provides i guess its worth a try. lets give it a thought, it might change the future or you could ask users whether to allow fingerprint authentication or not as secondary authentication process.
