    Guys, I asked them and this is actually implemented! It's just a bit convoluted. Here are the instructions:
    1. Select a message. - not just by opening it, but by actually ticking it.
    2. Shift+Click on the message up to which you want to select. - again, your click needs to be on the tick box, not just on the message, as that doesn't work.

    It's insane that when I want to delete the 100 daily emails I receive, I have to tick them one by one instead of simply shift-click once at the bottom.
