How can we improve ProtonMail?

Forwarding mail from protonmail

It would be great if we had the option to forward email to other services. I use ZenDesk and would like to forward mail received to one of my protonmail aliases to my ZenDesk account.

I love Protonmail and wish our company could use it as well. However, we have one owner/user who absolutely refuses to use anything but gmail and so that kills it for us.

Everyone else uses web access to their e-mail would be fine with Protonmail. The Protonmail interface is also considerably better than the service that we are currently using.

I've thought about seeing if we use Protonmail's bridge and fetchmail to retrieve the e-mail and forward it on (I've never used fetchmail and am not entirely sure what all the capabilities are, but it looks to be fairly comprehensive).

Even if that would work, it would have to be on a schedule of maybe every 5 minutes or so in order that the one user wouldn't have to wait too long when waiting for documents sent by a customer while on the telephone with that customer.

If we could forward e-mail to gmail, it would be nobrainer for us to change to Protonmail for the company.

We are scaling and this is needed now; please add asap!

This answers the question I had when exploring ProtonMail as a new host for my domain.

This is blocking me from moving my domain.

This feature and lack of groups means it's impossible to use Protonmail for any business except maybe for just a solo startup. Personal domains yes, any other company use no. Please add it! I have wasted days looking at alternatives...

it is incredible that forwarding of email is not possible. That makes it practically useless but for a very narrow need.

Overall, proton-mail lacks many features that the other service provides, like forwarding, filters. One has to consider if the trade off is worth using a very limited service in favor of potentially added security? For most people, I don't think proton is very practical. After a week, I found it is not something of use to me.

Forward emails to any address is a very powerful feature that would be greatly appreciated

-- bulk forward to any address
-- forward based on rules .
-- if privacy is a concern, automatic PGP encrypt then forward. wold be great.

Having no forwarding option from PM to other email accounts is really annoying! This is definitely a killer argument against ProtonMail.

The idea of "Forwarding mail from protonmail" to other services is a bad idea because the goal of protonmail is to avoid being read by the provider.

On the contrary the idea of "Mail Forwarding between ProtonMail Accounts" is a great one.

Forwarding from ProtonMail to another Email account would be really useful.

I have a custom domain name, so the MX records point to ProtonMail. I want Email to my personal account (me@mydomain) to stay on ProtonMail, but my wife (mywife@mydomain) uses Gmail, and doesn't want to change to ProtonMail. Currently all her Email ends up in my mailbox (as a sub-account), and I have to manually forward it to her Gmail account. I have a filter which automatically applies a label, but if the filter could also forward the mail elsewhere that would be great.

I realise that forwarding mail will not provide any security for my wife's Email. It's just as though she has a .forward file in her home directory. But that is fine. I also wouldn't mind all the spam she gets goes somewhere else too :-)

Yes, basic forwarding of email from Protonmail to another email client would be a big and important decision.

I agree. I use Protonmail for business operations and can not forward client emails to Zendesk Support. This is shit.

I want to keep my Protonmail account, but it will not be of much use to me until it is able to automatically forward mail to another E-mail provider.

Want to use protonmail to get rid of GSuite for Business, tho the lack of email forwarding is the only feature holding me back.

What if a user wants to leave ProtonMail? What if a user in my Custom Domain wants to move their email somewhere else? How do I forward email from ProtonMail in that situation?

Or is ProtonMail like the Hotel California? You can check out, but you can never leave?

I will keep my Protonmail account, but it will not be of any use to me until it is able to automatically forward mail to another E-mail provider.

Why is there no forwarding in protonmail???

      • Sir Oblong commented  ·

I understood that Proton does not offer this service but I have not catched why!
Any comment from Proton is pretty much appreciated.
        Cheers,
        Sir Oblong
