I am considering moving up to a paid account but then I found out that the fundamental feature of having sub-folders is not available. I am now reconsidering. It looks like Tutanota email does not provide for sub-folders either. Wow. Researching other options...

Frankly that is a shame not to support the hierarchized folder structure! PM has numerous fancy features but is missing such a basic functionality, that EVERY FREE email provider supports?! Forget all other upgrades – work on that one ASAP!

And the first request to implement a hierarchized folder structure came on Marth of 2018!!!

Subfolders are a very basic function and a necessary one. I just opened a free account and was ready to upgrade, when I discovered there is no subfolder functionality in any of the plans. Therefore I will not upgrade at this time and will continue to look for a secure e-mail provider who can provide this very basic function. If someone from Protonmail can respond to this issue and advise if/when subfolders will become available, only then will I ever upgrade to a paid plan.

I was just going to upgrade to protonmail plus but discovered I cannot create subfolders. Any ETA on when this will be available? Will hold off upgrading for now...thanks.

I love protonmail! And the Beta for the new version looks great! But please for the love of God create the ability to create subfolders! It is really the only thing I hate about protonmail. Organization without subfolders is extremely difficult and tags just arent a good alternative.

I and a lot of other people, we NEED the SUBFOLDERS feature.
WHEN this feature will be deliver ?

At this clear question, we want a clear answer with just a delivery date.

Just started paying for PM. Already wondering if this was a bad idea. Import/export tool unreliable. Outlook Bridge painfully slow. And the best part, no subfolders.. what!?

Maybe you could explain to us why you can not (do not want to?) add this basic but so useful feature?

Are these subfolders coming, Im almost regretting purchasing protonmail. Its secure great but when you have multiple email address and want to keep records, subfolders are NEEDED! Labels are useless as you still have hundereds if not thousands of emails cluttering each mailbox. Can Proton mail development team please advise if this subfolder feature is being developed and when we can expect it to be re;leased? Moving from free insecure email clients was my reason for coming to protonmail but if something as simple as subfolders is too difficult to implement maybe this isnt the product for me.

Every simple mail program (I had GMAIL before) can manage subfolders. Waht is so hard to program that? I really do not understand that, this should be an international standard. If I have a folder Motorbike rides, i want to have subfolders with the years in it, one for organisation and so on. Please implement this feature, many user (me too) are needing that feature, thanks.

I think i know how i will work around it but if you did sub folders i wouldn't need to add another step. The death of the big companies will be their functionality creep back and do it our way or fuck off approach.

Yes I see you've implemented labels as a new way of organizing mails but actually in the panel in your web app and in the mobile client the list of folders and labels gets very confusing.
Solution would be to add subfolders so folders can be ordered, and structured. By being able to collaps the "tree" (so you only are able to see the superfolder) the list would become much more clear.

An alternative would be to create the possibility of hiding some folders and labels in the right pannel and therefore again the list would become more clear (but subfolders would be better to organize than hiding folders and labels).
