  1. Sending E2EE emails to non-Proton users without the manual password/key hassle

I’ve been a very happy user and I’m incredibly grateful for what the Proton team has built. Proton is easily the best at privacy when both sides are on the platform, but recently I’ve been sending a lot of sensitive documents—IDs, bank docs, and contracts—to government officials. It’s made me realize that while Proton is great for privacy if both sides use it, it’s still a huge headache when your recipient isn’t a Proton user or a tech freak.

Right now, we have two options for non-Proton users, and both have major real-world friction. First, there’s PGP. Unless the recipient…

  2. Provide the ability to edit the subject line of an e-mail

Often an e-mail comes with a subject line that doesn't completely describe the content. For example, in a newsletter e-mail there may be several articles and the subject line is the first article. I may want to save the e-mail because of the second article. When this happens, I forward the e-mail to myself so I can change the subject line, but then I lose who it came from. Outlook has provided the capability to edit the subject line for many years and I'm surprised I haven't seen this feature in other e-mail applications. Seems like a simple thing to…

  3. Simple navigation to a specific date.

At the moment you have to scroll through each month if you want to jump to a specific date in the past or future. This is very inconvenient. In many other calendars it is possible to first select the year, then the month and then the day.

  4. UI elements for Emails - too much & too big

When opening an email - especially on mobile - UI elements are too big, to much of them and maybe they shouldn't all be there. See screenshot here - https://drive.proton.me/urls/0G7Y7D3WF0#mL6N900V24rk

    1. "This image is from a mailing list" - I know this and usually there is a link for unsubscribe, so not needed there. Also people might feel forced every time they open an email from a list to unsubscribe.

    2. "Some images failed to load...." - This is also not necessary. I would rather have a general settings for all emails. Maybe you could find a solution to load images to…

  5. When I open or use the preview in calendar, show the create date for repeating events.

Since we don't have any task system, I create repeating events to remind me to complete some task like for example checking a credit card refund. 3 months down the track when I look at the event I want to be able to see the first date for this event. Easier than having to scroll back through a busy calendar trying to work it out.

  6. Integrate Mail and SimpleLogin for simpler use

SimpleLogin built into Mail would make using much more smooth that now with different apps.

  7. Force sync button

A button to force sync in the Android app, as all my events are not synced on Android, even after waiting for a while. Only app reinstall allows a full sync.

  8. Settings panel auto-close on reload

This is not really specific to Mail or Calendar, it happens on all Web apps. When I open the settings panel on the right, and then reload the page (Ctrl+R), the settings panel remains open at the right.

I open the settings panel to access the settings page ("All settings" button), and when I'm done, I click the "Back to Inbox" button. THE PANEL IS STILL THERE.

    Why this unnecessary feature?

  9. Open in a specified folder - or last opened folder

I want proton Mail to always open in a folder specified by me.

This could also be "latest opened folder".

Right now I always see the inbox, which ideally is pretty empty in my setup, since I have a ton of subfolders and filters.

This means that I have to go to the "All mail" section - or browse many subfolders - to see discover new mails.

I'd personally prefer to always see "All mail" when opening Proton on the web or in an app, but another solution could simply be that Proton opened in the folder that was active…

  10. Duplicating events on mobile

I would like to be able to duplicate events on the mobile app like the Windows desktop app. I have appointments that reoccur on an irregular schedule and I am scheduling the appointments when I am not at my computer. My current workaround is to write the appointment down with pen and paper and hope I remember when I get home. I have forgotten to copy the pen and paper reminder into my Proton Calendar and missed appointments as a result. Kinda defeats the purpose of a calendar app if I am missing appointments.

  12. Jump to sent reply from the original email by clicking on reply icon beside sender name/address

Once you've replied to an email Proton Mail adds an unfilled reply icon in front of the sender address on the replied-to email and it has "Replied to" as the hover text. However, clicking on this icon does nothing to do with replies, but instead opens the standard sender pop-up ("New message", "Messages from this sender", etc).

I think that reply icon in front of the sender address to instead take you to the reply you wrote.

  13. Teams meeting link in Proton Calendar app

    Hi,

When we have a Teams meeting on the Proton Calendar app (on the phone), we cant find the meeting link. It is not in the event, when I use my phone.
At the moment, I either have to go on the Proton Calendar app on my laptop, or in the email.

Can we have the meeting link on the phone app as well?

    Thanks!!

  14. Reply's show in FOLDER they are replied from, rather than sent folder -like outlook

example. If I'm in my FOLDER called "realtor" and I reply... I will see my reply in the "realtor" folder.

If this if too much heavy lifting. It would be nice if I could do it manually during my reply. example. I am in FOLDER called "realtor" and reading an email. I select reply, and in the COMPOSE window, I see the MOVE icon. I select it, and choose "realtor" FOLDER. Then hit send. I can then see my reply email listed in the "realtor' folder.

  16. Remove elipses in titles of all-day-events

In the week-view of Proton Calendar, the titles of all-day-events end with an elipsis (...) when they are too long to be displayed completely. But these elipses take over so much space that it gets hard to read the actual title! For example some events in my calendar look like this:

    • "🧽 cl..."
    • "Visit..."
    • "Call..."

Instead of displaying an elipsis, Proton Calendar should display as much of the title as possible. Then these events would look like this:
    - "🧽 clean"
    - "Visit Gran "
    - "Call Deb"

This is how it works with the month-view. Let's also mae make…

  18. Support .heic photo attachments in mail—“attached” .heic photos show in my drafts/sent emails, but recipients tell me they haven’t received.

    Notes/tl;dr-ish :

Please note that as far as I can find: .heic = now the standard image file extension for any images taken via an apple device’s camera)

** Additional note: proton mail users do not seem to receive any error codes to tell them that these attachments were never sent.

***Please bear with me: I have tried to put all tl;dr info in the title & notes (above), but I struggle to write succinctly. I do believe this to be an issue that may affect any people that attach photos to their emails that were taken by an iphone/ipad.

  19. Modernize/expand the email editor

The email editor should have more formatting functions.

    • Markdown as input transform to HTML mail with preview function. (This would cover pretty much everything you could need.)

    • Create and manage tables

    • More editor functionalities (links from Drive)

    • Add meetings

    • Indentation levels (increase/decrease indentation)

The current editor feels like Notepad from Windows 95.

  20. Easily move recurring events (including birthdays) between calendars

Currently, managing recurring events, such as annual birthdays or weekly meetings, requires a complex process of recreation if the user wishes to change which calendar they belong to (e.g., moving an event from a 'Personal' calendar to a 'Family' or 'Work' calendar).

Please implement a simple 'move to' function for recurring events that transfers the entire series to the new calendar. This would streamline organization and data management within the Proton ecosystem, improving the user experience significantly."
