Proton Duo with shared email inbox
It would be nice if the members of a Duo had a shared email address and inbox. Most couples need at times to communicate jointly together as a couple, either socially or for household business.
It would be even better if a Duo also included a full joint account with all features so that there is equality in the way information is shared and used.

How do you do the alias creation to be sent to both accounts? I tried from the SimpleLogin console but it only shows one address.

I got a Duo subscription with my partner and am kind of shocked this wasn’t part of that package. It’s a real pain to do what is a basic email task.

I didn't realize this wasn't possible! This is such an important feature and surely the reason anyone signs up to duo or family. I'm loving Proton so far and want to support you guys but this is really necessary for me to continue long term.

This is kinda the biggest reason to have a Duo account with your partner. To have a shared addres. Since there seems to be a workaround found in simple login by creating an alias that goes to two addresses, so this feels like it would be a 'quick-ish' win that could drive revenue

As this feature is the same requested for the business plan, I'll post here the other requests that would base on the same feature:

Shocked that this is not part of the product, from day one!
Awaiting shared mailboxes. Switching to Proton the day they are introduced. -

I wanted to switch to Duo but if I can't have shared email addresses I won't. My partner and I are sharing a single premium account and the Duo subscription would be making it harder.
Until this is updated, I won't update my subscription plan. That's a pitty. -

Answering a question below for why I did not vote on this feature – I can create an alias and setup forwarding for everything arriving at that alias to my partner's account. It doesn't work like a shared folder, e.g. where an email I delete happens to both accounts, but it does allow mails arriving on that alias to be sent to both accounts. This is good enough for my scenarios already.

Was just about to sign up for a Family account and bring the family over to Proton, but the lack of a shared inbox for myself and my wife is a showstopper. Typically, all emails relating to the kids get sent to a shared gmail account, I was hoping it could be easily done with Proton but it seems like it doesn't.

Exactly that business case. I made a "family" mailbox I would like to share with my wife.

It's 2025, how is this not a feature for a pricing tier aimed at dual person households. It would be an amazing feature for the family plan too. I would instantly upgrade to duo or family plan if this was an option.

It blows my mind that this feature request is so low in terms of votes. I guess most people are using single user licences.
Regardless, this is a game changer for everyone on Duo, Family or Business.
We don't want this, we NEED this. -

Lack of this feature is the main reason I’m not paying for the duo plan.

This is critical! I have just signed up for a Duo account, and I am reconsidering it just for this feature! Couples need to be able to share and manage one same email address from both accounts!

So when checking this again, I find out Proton actually has the feature, but reserves it exclusively for Business accounts: https://proton.me/support/groups
So for twice the price you can finally get a feature that is essential for every +1 person household. Odd strategy.

A delegated inbox feature would be a game-changer. I am trying to move a nonprofit to Proton from Google but I think the lack of a delegated inbox will be a deal breaker. This is also an issue for our personal family plan.

For anyone looking for an alternative solution: Using SimpleLogin you can create an alias that gets delivered to two mailboxes (e.g., you and your partner). If either of you replies to the simplelogin reverse alias then it will be forwarded via the original alias, so both of you have the ability to both receive and send from the same address. IIRC it even sends a copy to the other mailbox!

I'd consider using Duo if this was an option.
