keep it simple
Please keep Proton mail a simple mail client. Maybe with folders and stars. But not like a hundred different inboxes and auto categories and crap. Gmail really jumped the shark recently and made it super hard to keep track of any email.

Email Notification
Because at this time there is no ability to integrate with other email clients (iPhone, MacMail, etc) I would like to get a simple notification to another email account to let me know that a new message is in my box. I don't need to know who from or what it's about, but just that it's a new message. It would be nice if we could get a link to the message to type in our passwords and get to it quickly.
7 votesPlease see this post for more information on how you can setup email notifications. https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/notifications/

catch-all support for custom domains
With the addition of custom domain support, I really would love the option to have a catch-all email address, as I've been using that feature a LOT on my current/previous hoster.
I vastly prefer that over the account+alias@protonmail.com feature, as using that would require me to change all the places where I used all those other email addresses.
1,120 votesYou can now set a catch-all address on custom domains. Thank you for the suggestion!

Block remote images from loading in apps
Currently, the mobile apps automatically load remote images in emails. This is a privacy risk because it reveals to the sender that the recipient's address is active, that the email was opened, from which IP address, at what time, etc. This gives websites/advertisers/spammers a ton of data about users.
There needs to be an option in the apps to block remote images by default, and only load them on a per-message basis when the user chooses to do so, just like the feature in the webmail version of ProtonMail.
111 votesWithin the settings ensure “Auto Show Images” is unselected to prevent remote images from being loaded automatically.

Remove/Update misleading and false claims in paid plans - Custom domain - Users
I am requesting that the seemingly deliberately, misleading claims of Protonmail Plus and Protonmail Visionary be updated to reflect clearly that the "5 ADDRESSES" and Custom Domain Support does not actually work as most people will interpret it.
I have been inspired to ask having read https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-feedback/suggestions/12484953-multiple-accounts-for-same-custom-domainIt seems that the 5 addresses are not in fact 5 user accounts that can be used with a custom domain but in fact 5 alias type addresses that can only be used by one person. It also seems that only one person can use the custom domain address.
Please vote this up…
8 votesSorry for the confusion. Please see these articles for clarification on the difference between users (https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/add-users/) and addresses (https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/aliases-within-protonmail/). You can learn more about the different plans here: https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/paid-plans/.

Different "Display Name" for each Alias
It would be very useful to be able to associate different display names with different aliases.
44 votesYou can add unique display names and signatures for each of your ProtonMail addresses: https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/display-name-aliases/.

Lock down the mobile app.
Please lock down mobile app every time it goes out of sight. If it stores encryption password and uses it automatically, it's OK, but it should ask for system password every time it appears in sight. Fingerprint usage would be nice, but even without it, it will be secure. Right now I touch the icon and thats it. Not very secure. SIMSme does it right.
12 votesYou can now add PIN and Touch ID functionality to be implemented every time the app is not in use: https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/touchid-and-pin-code/.
In addition, if the code is entered incorrectly more than 10 times, all the data will be wiped from the device: https://protonmail.com/blog/protonmail-mobile-v1-4-0-release-notes/.

Show the number of failed logins
Would be great if there was an option to see how many times someone failed to log in since the last successful log in. This could help to keep the account private because you know if someone tries to get into your account.
42 votesYou can turn on authentication logs to see when a login fails and what the IP address was that created the failed login: https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/authentication-logs/.

Hotkeys for Navigating Emails, Starting Emails, and Moving Between Folders
In Gmail, one can use hotkeys to navigate through emails, start email compositions, move between folders, and many other things. I rarely use the mouse when working in Gmail. I would very much like the same functionality here.
A complete list of Gmail hotkeys can be found here: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6594?hl=en

default custom domain email address as sender
Make it possible to indicate custom domain email address as 'main' address and have it as default when composing new emails from the web interface.

4096 bit RSA keys instead of 2048 bit
Currently, 2048 bit PGP keys are used to encrypt emails. While this is secure now, it won't be in the future. 1024 bit keys are already considered within the range of being breakable. Someday, probably within the next 10 years as technology advances, 2048 bit keys will also become breakable. When this happens, adversaries will be able to decrypt everything. Some adversaries save encrypted copies of all messages, waiting for the day they'll be able to break keys so they can go back and decrypt messages from the past. Eventually 4096 bit keys will be broken too, but that would…

Why can we not upload and send more than 15 mb? Are we back in the 90s for ever?
Think protomail is great in many ways. But it is getting sort of useless when sharing photo and sound with upload limit to 15 mb only.

Support HTML5 web notifications for incoming emails
Some services like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp Web, Skype and others send standardised HTML5 web notifications when new messages arrive. Chrome, Firefox and Safari have been supporting this for quite some time. The notifications happen locally and only as long as website is opened (e.g. in a tab) and the user is logged in. ProtonMail should support it too so that users are notified when new emails have arrived.
10 votesWe now offer: Email notifications, Desktop notifications, and mobile app notifications: https://protonmail.com/support/knowledge-base/notifications/.

It is always good to know if you really are the only one person who uses the login. Keyloggers etc. make it possible to hack your account.
