Save encryption passwords for non-PM contacts, also add a checkbox to send the password as a privnote style second link in the email.
When emailing an outside contact, save the encryption password to the contact, so next time you message them it automatically fills in that field with the agreed upon password.
So if I message someone and they have a password to access the message, next time I send it would default to encrypted with the same password.
You could also add a checkbox to send the password in the actual email as a second link that destroys when read, (just like privnote, which is how I send my passwords anyway)

Never forget SIMPLICITY and MINIMALISM, the very strength of Google's Gmail
Never forget simplicity and minimalism otherwise it will end up as bloatware in the future. This is one of the main reasons behind the success of Google and Apple as to why people like the services so much especially Gmail. Simple, minimalistic yet powerful.

A 'select all' feature
There is currently a select feature for a whole page, but instead of just one page (Kind of tedious if you have a lot of emails), either make the pages infinite depending on email count, or a select all feature.

news feed
I would be great if you did some sort of news aggregation like Google News or the Duckduckgo app on smartphones.

Improved interface- it just feels dated and clunky!
Yes it's usable and yes it's only in beta, but the interface design doesn't make me want to use ProtonMail... I want something that's beautiful, easy to use and makes me happy... at the moment, neither gmail nor outlook give me that, it's time to step up ProtonMail!

Expiry should not be indicated and screen capture ability disabled
I suggest a recipient should not be able to see that the e-mail has a expiry time.Seeing that there is an expiry time may cause the recipient to forward the e-mail or take a screen shot of the e-mail.
I further suggest any e-mail with an expiry time should not be able to be captured by way of a screen shot.4 votes -
Default setting for expiration time on emails (pm to pm)
It's simple - you already have a way to set an email to another protonmail account to expire after X hours - I just want a way to make emails have an expiration time by default.
I find myself always setting the expiration time, but every now and again I'll forget. Life would be easier if I could set a default time. Should be easy enough to just include it as a setting in the interface :)

Encrypt email address when sending messages to "unknown" recipients.
For example, PM encrypts my email address username@protonmail.ch when it is send to their servers, thus coming out something like Dj4^vsSD@ or total nonsense to the "unknown" recipient.
When the recipient replies the email address is known by PM therefore it is decrypted on their servers, found to be [me] username@protonmail.ch and delivered to the correct inbox. This, I believe, would protect users from third party email distribution or that "friend" who is a little too active on their FB page.
I have seen this utilised, surprisingly, by PayPal. PP knew my email address, but the merchant I bought something…

Improve Placement of Reply & Forward Functions; Differentiate Back Function
The reply, forward, etc. functions are far to the right of the e-mail you are reading and not presented contextually (on a small windows 8 machine). Also, the arrow to move back to list view is nearly the same visually as the already-established-by-other-sites reply arrow. The two are confusing and I frequently think one is the function of the other.

WYSIWYG Editor in UI with Ability to Add Hyperlinks
Most e-mail services have WYSIWYG-type formatting editors built into their interfaces. This allows a user to do things such as: add bullets, add numbers, enlarge and reduce font, change to another web-safe font, embed a hyperlink in the e-mail, etc.

Temporary Alias with delayed send (validity, you decide)
Assume that NSA can see To:, From:, When etc. Its a good idea to make sure they don't see who and when an email was sent (without court order)

The ability to have a section of unencrypted text when sending an encrypted message to outside email addressed
When you want to send a message that is secure to an outside email address, but you would also like to have the ability to have some sort of unencrypted text that might tell them like here are the files you asked me for or something along those lines.

Allow users to customize the Encrypted ProtonMail message to Non-ProtonMail users.
Non-ProtonMail users often discard or delete new encrypted messages, because they may sometimes appear as spam.
Especially Non-English speaking Non-ProtonMail users.
It would be better if one could just write down something like:
"Hi, Mike! This is my new email address. I have sent you an encrypted email, just click on the link below and type in the password to open it. This is the password hint: ...text..."
