Please update the APK provided via GitHub. The APK available there was last updated in October 2023 (v3.0.17) while the one on APKMirror is apparently more recent: last updated on March 15, 2024 (v4.0.6).
While the current version is available on one source, at least, it would be important to release updates for all official sources, especially when there is a dedicated site for it (protonapps.com/). Alternatively, you could also add the link to APKMirror to the PMail page on Proton Apps.

Unfortunately many unofficial APK versions are hacked and programmes by hackers and bad engineers
I hope that proton mail create an official version because then this would give peace of mind to many persons knowing the official APK version isn't hacked nor reprogrammed by bad intentioned persons

I agree, because Google play controls the apps and censors since they program the app on Google based programming.
I hope proton mail and proton vpncreates an APK version as well

Thanks for taking this on and for the mail apk link. Was unsure whether to trust the Proton apk link I'd found via a web search. Best Wicket Keepers in IPL History

Many of us have detached from everything Google as much as possible, one of them being email which was the whole purpose of using another client like ProtonMail. We need the app and updates available for download from the site instead of the Play Store. This may be the end of ProtonMail for me if this doesn't change. I refuse to have a google account again.

Another vote for adding it to F-Droid and removing the dependencies on Google Play. Please make it happen Team Proton!

You can also find officially released APKs at https://protonapps.com/
Sadly, they've only officially released the apks for ProtonMail and ProtonVPN. If you'd like them to also officially release the apks for ProtonCalendar and ProtonDrive, please vote up https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-protonmail/suggestions/43739781-add-protoncalendar-protondrive-apks-to-https-p

I wish you could add pmail to f-droid, without google API, as with pvpn. Because of your tracker-free f-droud vpn option, I have tried the vpn despite having a 2-yr subscription to another trusted vpn without a degoogled option and am considering changing.
Tutanota is on f-droid and earned my paid trust. I look forward to seeing where pmail goes with its nongoogle androud options.

Is it possible to avoid Google Play while downloading the Proton Mail APP?

Provide a way to download the mobile app for Android phones directly from your website. People are seeking ways to lessen their exposure to Google. They find ProtonMail and sign up, but then they have to use a Google account to go to the Google Play Store to download your app. This defeats the purpose. Currently, I am using your desktop website on my phone to see how it works, to investigate that option for a blog site that wants to post alternatives. Adding the option for downloading the apps directly from your website could be a great selling point.

@ProtonMail, Signal has a self auto-updating apk, directly from their site at signal.org/android/apk for those users that are degoogled.

Provide an alternative source for download of the Android app. All apps and activity inside of apps on goggle play are tracked by google. It is a Google requirement for an app to be listed on play. Google adds a script and backdoor permissions to every app on play.
