Android app to support multiple accounts
Just like in Gmail I would like to login to multiple accounts in my Android (don't know about the iOS app since I've never tried it) at the same time
Thank you all for the feedback. This feature is now available on Version 1.12 of the ProtonMail Android app. Learn more about it here: https://protonmail.com/blog/android-multi-account-support/

Hey there!
Yes, managing multiple accounts in apps on Android can definitely be a big convenience. Just like Gmail, many apps now allow you to log in to multiple accounts simultaneously, which is really useful for anyone who manages personal and work accounts separately, for example.
If you’re looking to develop an app that supports multi-account functionality, or perhaps you want to create a custom mobile app with advanced features like this, you might want to explore mobile app development services. There are top mobile app development companies that specialize in creating tailored experiences for your specific needs. One such company is https://www.cogniteq.com/mobile-app-development, known for building efficient and user-friendly apps across various platforms. They could help you integrate seamless login features or any other functionality you need for your project.
Hope this helps, and happy to chat more if you have other questions!

This is planned only for Android version or also iOS? I use iOS and would love this...

just to make sure: this would also be multi-domain support, right? (i.e. support for non-proton mail included)

@LUH3417, thank you.

@Daniel Maier They seem to release first to android, probably due to it's popularity. Regarding notifications, I was referring to the android app notifying when a new email arrives.
I never saw an announcement about the feature being added. They probably don't announce it until it finished the beta stage and becomes part of a regular update. You can read the blog on their main web site to learn about what they are working on, and what is included in each new update. You could check to see if there is a beta version for iOS.

@LUH3417, I can’t believe they didn’t release that for iOS as well.
How do one subscribe for these notifications, like you have?
Thank you. -

@Daniel Maier It appears to be implemented for those who are using the Android beta version. Seems to be working well. Would be nice if notifications arrived faster. I receive notification by PC several minutes before they arrive on the mobile app.

Where do you see it beta? Or implemented? I’m a paid user and don’t see it anywhere. I’m also on iOS.

Nice to see this feature has now been implemented (Beta?). It is a shame it is only available for paid accounts. But, it's a good start. Please modify the setup so we can visibly see each account in tabs at the top of the app screen, and allow each account tab to show the number of new emails, since last checking the inbox. If you don't feel you can fit the name of each account in tabs, please allow color coded tabs in place of account names. Thanks

Precisely, this should be equally developed for iOS.
I also have to use an insecure email forwarder (while a pay for ProtonMail) for my wife and I because we can’t log into the same account by sharing a joint account on the same app. There’s no way to be logging out and in each time. :/ -

Why is this option not planned for the iOS app?

I have a free and a paid proton mail account (one for personal and one for an organisation) and would like to have this feature for iOS so I can completely move away from Gmail.
This feature ist absolutely essential for daily work! -

I was happy with ProtonMail for the 3 or 4 months I used it, I even decided decided last month that I would migrate to it exclusively... then I sadly realized it's stuck in the stone ages with only single account support. Needless to say I've dropped plans to migrate to ProtonMail and have migrated all my accounts away from ProtonMail. As of a week ago I have ceased actively using my ProtonMail entirely because of this missing feature which is really a requirement for modern email apps. Thanks for the 3+ months of great service, it's too bad I don't currently see a future for us together given this is stuck in "development hell" without even a comment.

Tom_C is right, and it is the very reason I have not upgraded to a paid account. Not going to do it until this is implemented

The lack of multiple-account login is one significant reason that I have not yet begun using ProtonMail. Useability is really important when one wishes to get things done efficiently, and the lack of helpful features like that ultimately makes a big impact on productivity.

This is absolutely ESSENTIAL. I use email on 3 different domains, one for personal use, the other two for business. The personal one is already hosted on ProtonMail, but I want the other two domains on ProtonMail too.
The lack of ability to switch accounts within the PM app, like you can with Gmail, means that I have no choice but to host, reluctantly, the remaining two domains with a different provider as I need all three accounts on my mobile devices. It's the sole reason they are getting my money, instead of ProtonMail. Using web mail as an alternative is _not_ an option, I _need_ mobile access.
This request is now 3 years old, almost to date, and has been marked as planned for almost as long. It has attracted well over 12,000 votes. Can this be made a priority please?
As soon as this feature is implemented I will move my other two domains over to ProtonMail, meaning that you will get my money instead of the competition.
