How hard could this be? It's now making me think of leaving proton mail :-(

This is why I'm deleting my proton mail account.

Just migrated from gmail, where I used this option, so it would be really useful in my use cases.

Pretty shocked that this is not supported. As a head of household trying to get multiple family members into the Proton ecosystem - not having the ability to setup auto forwarding is a non starter.

Of course it would be less safe. But if proton were 100% secure, no one would be able to use it because of terrible usability restrictions. There has to be a balance. Give people the option to do this NECESSARY feature. It is absurd you can do it manually, and setup filters for incoming mail - but not outgoing.

I really want to like Proton mail - but some of these are headscratchers. What email client can't auto-forward ? Like a car without airconditioning in 2023...

I was pretty surprised when I realized that this feature is not implemented. It's pretty basic to have option to forward or redirect emails based on the conditions.

I'm just trying to automate some IFTTT. This would help.

I personally know many people who would love to use Proton but cannot switch due to this very basic missing functionality. There is NO EXCUSE for this to still be missing.

this would be great for me as an auto feature. If a certain email comes from a certain address I want to forward it and chose from which of my addresses I am forwarding it.

This seem dangerous from a security perspective because it could lead to leaking mail outside of the encrypted Proton Mail eco system.

At least allow encrypted forwarding between Proton mail accounts. Maybe allow a trusted recipients list which may only be edited after an appropriate MFA response.

I need forward to my wife, who is also a PM user, based on recipient

I would love to have the option to forward email based on a filter based on the sender, recipient or specific key words. My use case is I would like to forward email to my wife that I receive from my children's school and / or teachers. This would simplify what currently is a manual process.

Please, add this feature. I've been paying for a PM account for a few years now and generally had good luck. But like many others, I'm willing to forgo some security in exchange for email forwarding. I don't see any way to avoid vendor lock-in here unless I have some way to get realtime email out. I've already become dependent on the service and updating all my contacts to a new email address is a daunting task. Email forwarding would solve the issue.

I'm flabbergasted to find out that email forwarding isn't possible with PM. I wouldn't have singed up for the paid version if I did.

They want people to remain within their ecosystem.

If they allow email forwarding, people will simply forward their emails to Gmail or Outlook and no longer use Proton (thereby defeating the company's mission)

I am also disappointed that I cannot forward my emails... I was paying for an upgraded version for some time, and due to other limitations decided to finally go back to gmail account. It's frustrating and was quite a tough process!

I have a free protonmail account (unused). I would start paying and using if auto-forward is available.

I have referred countless people and businesses to Proton over the years and MANY OF THEM have either not switched or switched and then shortly switched back to their previous setup after realizing these limitations.

There are many threads just like this one, and this one has >1200 votes and has been going on for over 6 years now.

How hard can it be???

This is another issue I have that keeps me using Zohomail - I want to set up a filter to send some emails to a secondary email address (email to sms, anyone?). Zoho has no issue, but proton doesn't provide this option? Got too many emails, will have to trim the fat soon, and if one provider does everything I need and the other doesn't, well...

I have the same situation as Joe Kueser below. I need auto forwarding to migrate my G* domain and keep the wife happy.
