Forwarding email from Proton Mail
It would be great if we had the option to forward email to other email providers. services.
Thanks to your feedback, you can now automatically forward emails sent to your Proton Mail account to any email address: https://proton.me/support/email-forwarding
Email forwarding is available for everyone with a paid Proton Mail plan.

Please fix this!! We need this ASAP. We respect the privacy but I just need to forward emails to myself for track record....

It's easy to leave Gmail thanks to their tool for automatically forwarding incoming messages to a third-party email address.
I believe this functionality does not exist in protonmail.
I would like, as an action of the filters, to be able to select "forward message to..."

i'd like to be able to use the @pm.me address as my default and just want to forward mail from my current default, without having to change every contact over etc

I moved my custom domain over from G****. Over there, I was just forwarding that custom domain to my G**** account. And also forwarding my wife's address on that custom domain to her G**** account. I would like to continue to forward her custom domain address to her G**** account so she doesn't kill me.

I am trying VERY hard to get my family migrated to Protonmail and this is a show stopper. Just to pile on a tad, most of us are influencers in our respective organizations where a product like Protonmail, if fully features with auto-forward, would be welcome. Fortune 500 software and insurance as well as law enforcement. It's a small ask for a big payback, let the user make their own choices about encryption, we can already manually forward email, it's just horribly inefficient.

Is there a response from Protonmail to this functionality request?

Please this is basic functionality, could you please add it as part of the filtering?
Thanks!

Ideally this would be accomplished in Sieve via the `redirect` feature.

I think I'm leaving Protonmail at the end of my current subscription. The lack of ability to handle emails into their own accounts with custom domains IE: All mail dumps into the primary account and all sent mail also dumps into the primary account. Also the lack of forwarding, yes I'm aware that forwarding would strip the encryption but after all, it should be by choice to do that.

Holy cow, I can't believe auto forward is NOT an option with Protonmail. I am Visionary (paying) Member for mail and VPN, and this needs to be addressed if you're to keep my business long term.

I was genuinely surprised when I realized email forwarding wasn't currently possible with filters. Please add this functionality, thank you.

This feature is absolutely essential to using Protonmail for Business. I realize the issue may have something to do with "Protonmail cannot create a filter based on email content, because it has no access to your ENCRYPTED content." Encryption and privacy is the whole holy point of Protonmail. But the whole point of EMAIL is being able to communicate more instantaneously between various senders/receivers. And the whole point of email filtering/forwarding is to be able to instantaneously pass on a message which one receives. The instantaneous passing of this message might be ABSOLUTELY INDISPENSABLE to a person's email use/platform use.
There must be SOME way to be able to filter/forward at least, perhaps by SENDER. What if a user "authorized" Protonmail to do a decryption, filter, forward, and then immediately re-encrypt and/or delete the unencrypted content that was scanned to trigger the forward? I don't know if this is possible to do in a secure cyber-environment. But if Protonmail could find a way to do it, it would be a HUGE advertising point for upgrading to paid-level accounts. Could this be done by somehow running the filter check via the Proton Drive environment? Don't mind me, I'm no expert. I mean no harm -- I just really would love to see the filter/forward feature in Protonmail.

This really needs to happen ASAP. Had I known this basic, near universal feature was not present I'm not sure I would have signed up to this service.
Guess I'll start figuring out how to move elsewhere and get a refund....

This feature is necessary for me to continue paying premium plan as I want to move to a different protonmail inbox to separate emails under my old and new surname to keep receiving copy of new ones on second email but keep old ones here. Please implement this basic email feature... I can't believe this has not been done already! I am cancelling my premium based purely on lack of this feature.

There's clearly something I don't understand... I can manually forward all my emails, so why not allow auto-forwarding? Please find a way to make this happen. Protonmail is a great product but the absence of such a common feature seems inexplicable.

Please, look into this. I just migrated my domain to ProtonMail and my brother (using the same domain, wants a different provider) is stuck with "I promise I'll send you your e-mails when they arrive in your folder in my inbox". He doesn't care about encryption, just wants to receive e-mails "to his old inbox".

Any progress on this feature? Auto-forward is an incredibly necessary function for email, can't believe this doesn't exist for ProtonMail. Its what is keeping me from paying for the Plus or Professional upgrade.

I understand that forwarding can be problematic. However, what most people here actually seem to need is routing. Citing Greg Heitz below: Such a feature should be possible, since changing the delivery address should be an event before encryption (ie before reaching the recipient mailbox).
A similar feature exists on Gmail: https://support.google.com/a/answer/2685650Are you going to implement routing? I don't need it now, but if it is not on the roadmap, I will change to a secure email service that has it. For example Mailfence, Mailbox.org or Runbox

Please look into this. It would be as easy as enabling the "redirect" function in Sieve filters...
I need this!!
