Add ability to run newly created filters against existing mail
Can you please make it so we can run newly created filters against existing mail? Ideally based off the same criteria we can search on, applied retroactively.
When creating a filter, you have a checkbox "Apply filter to existing emails".

This really needs to happen, it's impossible to manage large amount of emails with that kind of feature.

I just migrated my primary email over to a paid subscription, and am unpleasantly surprised this seemingly basic feature doesn't exist. :/

It would be great to have a way to retroactively apply filters you have made to emails received before the filters existed. This would make organizing things MUCH easier.

I think this is a dupe of this issue:
You guys should close this one and add your 104 votes to that one and give it a bit more juice....

This would be extremely helpful. I'm importing a decade worth of email now and having the ability to use sieve filters to clean it all up would be incredibly helpful.

I couldn't believe this didn't exist -- clean-up was my primary reason for building my filters. Must have feature. :)

I'd add that another person made a similar proposal with the idea that this be an OPTION when finalizing the filter, and I'd opt for that nuanced feature.

Must have!

@Roni Hartell - I can only move 50 emails at a time using that method,
at least when I do a search -

I have a bunch of emails that I'd like to sort through. I set up custom filters so new emails can be labeled and/or moved into folders. However, there doesn't currently seem to be a way to run one rule or all rules on existing emails.
Please add an option to run all rules on all existing emails, and an option to run one rule against all existing emails.

You can do this two ways.
1. Create a filter
2. Search for the emails you want to filter in your inbox (you will have a common denominator, i.e email address)
3. Click the select all box and then click either the label icon or folder
4. if you click folder you can then just move them to a folder of your choice or create a new one. -

Totally agree. If I came up with a new filter, I want to apply it to all the letters I have so far. I can't do that manually, it will take all day. This is some low hanging fruit out there.

Please do this. I can only see the patterns of emails (and thus the filters I need) after they've been piling up in my inbox for some time. I'd like the ability to clean those out.
