i agree completely. this should be a basic function. to be able to mantain the message chain without the cumbersome attachments. please correct this ASAP. it may be a dealbreaker. thanks.

This is an essential and basic function, as protonmail repeats attachments with every reply. I prefer to archive my email correspondence, and even with a relatively small (1MB) attachment, a lengthy chain quickly becomes unnecessarily large.

It would be great if you could remove attachments from both sent and received mail, to save space, after they have been downloaded.

It is not always necessary to store every attachement of an e-mail, esp. in outgone mails. So far I dont see the possibility of deleting them separately and keeeeeping the mail itself.

Please come on! This is a very amateurish thing... Why should one *not* be able to delete unwanted files from ones inbox without deleting correspondence as well? People has asked about this since 2017...

Best to put an "x" on each file icon, so the attachments can be deleted one by one, as needed.

I'd also love this feature.

Attachments really start to eat into your space limit when they are added to email chains that have multiple people replying to all. So, for example, if your brother attaches a video of his kid's birthday party and sends it to a large email distribution, everyone who replies-all adds another copy of that video to your inbox. this can quickly add up, and their is no way to delete to duplicate videos without deleting the whole email chain.
This special case could also be fixed by only storing one copy of each attachment per email chain (You could use a hash to determine this).

Save space on your server for both you and us. Still have a tag that shows name of file attached and that it was sent, and perhaps date deleted?

The ability to delete selected attachments while keeping the text of an email is a feature that is sorely missing from Protonmail. It would be hugely appreciated if your company could implement this!
