sub-folders
ProtonMail must add a feature to set sub-folders into other folders; this is an indispensable feature for any top tier email provider ....
The new Protonmail now includes the ability to create folders and subfolders. Give it a try today at mail.protonmail.com

Wanted to vote for this but it was closed. This is a necessary feature. I have paid for the plus version without realizing there were no nested folders available.

Nested FOLDERS (NOT "labels") and filters to sort incoming mail into them, is necessary for me to be able to use ProtonMail. I use GMX email now, SOLEY because of the Nested Folders (vs "labels"), but I don't consider it any more "secure" than Gmail or Yahoo. They have no private, paid version.
3 levels of subfolders and 100 filters is adequate for me. When will your Beta version be stable for normal use?

I, too, am waiting for nested FOLDERS (NOT labels) (3 levels of sub-Folders is quite adequate for me) before I will be able to purchase and use ProtonMail. I want to NOT download emails to an email client, but to keep them in webmail. I understand limited online SPACE, which makes more sense than limited online folders, so you can manage HOW you use the space available to you. To me, Gmail and Yahoo are useless to me not just for security reasons, but they only offer "labels", not actual Folders. I now I use .GMX email, only because it has actual FOLDERS (NOT labels). I wouldn't be looking if it had a paid version, but it doesn't and it serves ads, lots of them, by myriad "partners."
I really like the idea of truly anonymous accounts, because hackers go from one connection, such as "recovery email" to another, compiling information, until they finally have enough for identity theft. Read the "privacy" statements all the way through - they will curl your toes!
When you do provide this feature, it would be very helpful to "BOLD", or otherwise highlight, folders (in the left panel) that contain unread messages, so you could filter incoming emails directly into appropriate folders and yet not lose sight of them.
Sorting folders by (DateSent or by From/Sender or by Sent-T0) by clicking on the column title is good, too.
I can't use ProtonMail without my email being kept online in nested folders (not just "labeled" - labels are next to useless for me).
An adequate number of message filters on Sender, Subject, and Sent-TO columns are also essential. 100 filters is quite adequate for me.
I'd really like to be able to use ProtonMail, but it's too expensive to NOT include these basic features. When do you expect that the beta be stable for general use?

I fully agree with this. flat folders Without them you have to scroll thru a long list of flat folder names on the left.

I cannot fully give up on my Yahoo email account until you add subfolders. How hard can that be?

3 is better than none. Most things I only use 3 with e-mail how ever who knows. in E-mail I have never really need them.

This is the one and only reason that I have not fully migrated to Protonmail. I cannot over emphasize the importance of this feature so please help to make this available soon. Thank you.

The need for nested or subfolders folders is critical in order to store my e-mail with Proton Mail. My mail application linked with Proton Mail Bridge has approximately 70 to 80 nested or subfolders in several layers. These subfolders are critical to organize and find past messages. Please complete the Nested Folders feature as soon as possible. Please also do not limit the number of subfolders or the number of folder layers.

Is it possible to enable the ability to create subfolders in the folders section? For example, I would like to create a folder labled "Insurance Carriers", then have several folders beneath that with the names of all the different insurance carriers I work with.

I cant move away from my old email system until nested folders are available if I want to preserve my present system. I assume this is true for the majority of people having 100 - 10 000 emails. This is keeping me going from FREE to PLUS!

The sub-folder feature is available in beta, yes.
But... It only allows for a three level sub folder structure. Compared to how most people use sub-folders in other mail systems, three levels isn't sufficient. Please, ProtonMail team, do open up the sub-folder option for "limitless" levels.

I would actually prefer to have columns to filter e-mails based on metadata rather than nested folders.

I really really need this. It seems kind of insane to not have this out of the gate, it is such a basic thing.

Yes, and it is great! I have already started migrating many filters and mailing lists from other email providers now that sub-folders exist.
Now we just need to get more than 100 email filters active at once.

I am pleased to hear that nested folders are currently in a beta version of ProtonMail. I look forward to their implementation in production ProtonMail at the earliest possible date.

New user here, would really love nested folders. Organization is so much easier with them. Please consider adding!
