'Delete Permanently' button in the taskbar
Until the recent upgrade, one could delete emails permanently from the All Mail view. Since the upgrade, it appears you can only delete permanently from the Trash. I would like to have this feature back so I don't have to first move emails from the inbox to the trash before I delete them.
Thank you,

Yes, please get this rather simple feature to the Desktop-App as well as to the Mobile-App.
Many (many!) thanks. -

Without a way to permanently delete emails right from the main email page this app is mostly useless to me, and I will have to continue to use Outlook. It is absurd how a modern-day email app does not allow this.

I totally 💯 agree with Rob. I've been using PM since 2013.In the past few months I've wasted so much time dumping unwanted email to trash, emptying the trash, close out app, open app, just to find the 175 emails are back in my inbox! Yes, WTF.

Why has this been open for EIGHT YEARS and is still not fixed. I appreciate that my money is being used for stuff, but this is a no-brainer, wtf.

Yes - we need this!
The permanently delete button should be on all taskbars (Inbox, All Mail, Folders and Labels). This would make it super easy to delete emails.

We must have the ability to direct delete an email without it going to trash, this is very important. For me 50% of the stuff I delete I never want to see again, 50% I need to keep for a while. Without this feature, our trash folder becomes full of too much unnecessary junk! In Windows you SHIFT+DEL files you don't want to keep in trash. Proton Mail MUST follow the same principals. Please give us this feature.

This feature would save a lot of cleaning up, of the Trash-folder.

It would be useful to be able to search and/or filter the Trash folder by date, e.g. permanently deleting all Trashed items older than three months would be useful.

Yo, use iMacros an extention in chrome to make the deleting process automatic, while taking a lunch or something.

This was in the earlier versions of ProtonMail I have no clue why they removed it. And I'm pretty sure you had to enable it in the settings menu before it shows up so it didn't cause any harm.
ProtonMail wtf? Add it back!
Going through my mail and sorting everything now takes twice as long just because I don't have this one button. -

I agree ... having to move an email to Trash first in order to permanently delete it is a waste of time. Make the button RED so people will not use it accidentally. OR allow the short-cut key to work in ANY directory. Right now it only works in the Trash directory and again we have to move things to the Trash BEFORE we can get rid of them for good. Thanks

Please add the Delete button back when looking at All Mail. Having to send to Trash and then deleting is painful

This is extremely important. It is very time consuming to delete to trash then to have to go to trash and delete a second time (via "Delete Permanently")... that's a poor design. I hope it wasn't to make users buy more storage. We need a "Delete Permanently" from any folder and a bulk delete as well (i.e. delete all mails in a particular folder, or delete oldest n emails (maybe even with date params)).

Exactly - that we don't stock emails that have absolutely no purpose - just a waste of space and so energy

Absolutely! It was there in the search result in the old gui. Why was it removed from the new one? I do get a lot of notification emails. I don't need them in trash or anywhere else. They can just go. It would be awesome if there was a button to delete multiple emails in a search result (as it used to be), but also one in the email view to delete a single email. The shortcut Shift+Delete would also be really sweet!

Since there is STILL no way to view multiple email Inboxes at once, and in the only workaround "All Mail" view Trash-marked messages clutter up the list, I used this button extensively. The new UI just went from 1 click to 4x(!) the clicks for the same operation: 1) click to Trash 2) click to go to Trash view 3) click on the message again 4) click on "Delete permanently"

I think it would really save users time if the Delete button were visible, instead of being buried under "Other".
I'm not sure what my layout is called - it has a list of messages on the left and the messages open on the right. There is just an unmarked drop down arrow, which I must click on, then scroll down to the delete button. Yet this must be the most frequently used action. It should be one click only next to forward reply filter etc.. -

Hi,
it seems that when you select multiple messages the permanent delete button disappears in beta...
I don't see why ... you actually want a quick way to free some space, with smart search, imo...Thanks

Hi everyone.
I don't know if I'm alone with this.
But it would be so much easier for me to have a delete button directly in the list of mail. For each mail, you have a line and at the end is a favorite button, would be nice to have a delete button the to delete quickly mails in one click.
Thanks for reading !

I would like a Quick Delete Button to allow just one touch to completely delete an email (mostly spam and Trash). I'm spending too much time going through 4 motions of deleting then approving then emptying trash then approving. I get way too much junk I need help. I love the ability to filter mail, but we need a quick way to just get rid of stuff.
