Add memo field to Message Details window
The Message Details window comes up after clicking the three dots directly above a message.
That window displays :

Add a "star" on the desktop toolbar that is visible while reading an email. One has to scroll to the top to add a star or exit & star..
When I'm reading an email and need to follow up, I have to either scroll to the top of the email so I can click the star on the top right (if it is not visible, i.e., a long email), or exit the email and hope that it didn't get lost in the sea of emails, and then "star" it. The star could be placed next to the "mark as unread" button.

Proton Contacts, search all fields, incl. Notes
I find it essential to be able to search all fields within Proton Contacts. Especially Notes, as often add key words in there, if you don't remember names. Search works fine in Mail.

Improve Search
Can I really not search for messages sent by or received from someone?
Honestly, search is so weak, the only way to do it is use Bridge and a client like Thunderbird with a decent search engine. Then why use the webmail client at all? Also, content search is frankly useless as the content repeatedly disappears and needs another glacial re-indexing. I know there's a bandwidth overhead with this, but some of us are paying for just that!52 votes -
Sieve regex testing
Provide an interface (as part of filter creation, etc) to test sieve functions, especially regex, against a selection of email or email header input to verify matches.
This would greatly reduce headache and troubleshooting of filters as emails happen to come into the inbox.

No multiple confirmation messages when deleting several emails
When deleting several email via the trash button, the same confirmation messages keep appearing multiple times (they stack).

2FA by phone SMS code when login is from new device or country
Hello. Proton is almost perfect. It has perfect design and features. But one important security feature is missing.
Please, add the 2FA by phone SMS code when there is a login from new, not trusted device or country.
All other big email services have it. It's a very useful security feature.
Right now you have only 2FA by App. Also it sends the code for every new login. It's time wasting and not comfortable.
Make available 2FA by phone SMS code only when the login is suspicious, as I explained in the beginning.

Edit as new
I recommend having the 'Edit a Message as New' function in Webmail, to be able to choose and edit any email as if it were a template or draft message. Thunderbird and Zoho Webmail have this useful feature.

Delete ALL items in folder button
Currently when you select a folder instead of an individual email, Protonmail shows in the main message screen the name of the folder and the number of emails contained within. There should be a button similar to the "Hide My Email" button that appears when you choose the Spam Folder, that reads DELETE ALL IN FOLDER. This would be much more convenient than the current method and would prevent deleting mail from the wrong folder.

Sorting new emails in threads also - like in inbox. Simple and clear feature.

Signature - I would like to have the option to insert my signature in my e-mail
Our company and our employees would like to have the option in an e-mail to be able to insert or remove a signature anyway, and preferably the choice of multiple signatures, for example in a different language, or a business or a more informal signature.

Sort contacts with tags
Can we please get tags for individual contacts? Can't add contacts to groups without an email address but need to be able to group contacts that don't have email addresses.

Stand alone contacts
I would like to have Proton Contacts as my default on our Android phones. I need to open Google contacts to make a call unless I port all my Proton contacts to Google. I'm don't wish to give Google my entire contacts list.

Custom Auto-Delete Settings for Trash & Spam Emails
Right now, Proton auto-deletes emails in Trash and Spam after 30 days by default. I’d love to see an option to customize this time.
For example:
1) Privacy-focused users could set it to auto-delete after 1 day, a few hours, or even immediately (skip Trash). 2) Others might prefer to keep deleted emails for 60 or 90 days, just in case they need to recover something.Having this flexibility would give users more control over their privacy and email management.
Hope you consider adding this in a future update!

Allow "From" Email Default to be Blank For New Messages
Please provide an option that allows the "From" email to be blank for new messages.
This will reduce the error of sending new messages with the wrong "From" email address because I will have to manually select the correct email address. Otherwise, it is too easy to forget to change the "From" email from the default email to the correct one.

Share custom domain with free/plus accounts
I just set up a custom domain using Mail Plus, hoping that I could use the "10 email addresses" for my family. The "Black Friday" promotion did not clearly list the "1 user" limitation, and the "Duo" account costs more than twice as much as the Plus. It would be great if there was a way to share my custom domain with people using other accounts (esp. free/plus accounts). I can set up a forwarding account for them, but I would like them to be able to send mail from that account also.
