  1. Nicknames

Please add a nicknames field for protonmail contacts. It would be helpful if this worked with the iOS dictation feature for voice input for to, cc and bcc fields.

  2. Use the user portion of a random-generated alias for mail origin authenticatin

When users sign up for services (e.g. Facebook) they might use a random generated email alias like facebook.com.spar731@passinbox.com, note that the domain of the website who this alias was intended for (facebook.com), is in the user portion of the alias and can be used as a form of data origin authentication like so:

Whenever a user receives an email, the proton mail client checks whether the domain of the sender is present in either the user portion of the beneficiary of that mail (FACEBOOK.COM.spar731@passinbox.com) OR that the domain of the sender is in some sort of whitelist…

  3. email sweep

Microsoft's Outlook email app has a feature called "Sweep," which allows one to highlight an email, and then take action on and set up a rule for all emails from that sender.

    Options include:

Move all messages from the Inbox folder
Move all messages from the Inbox folder and any future messages
Always keep the latest message and move the rest from the inbox folder
Always move messages older than ten days from the inbox folder

The default destination is "Deleted Items." Other options include:
    Junk Email
    Inbox
    Archive
or any other folder the user chooses or creates.

    It is…

  4. expand day+week view

When in week view, we should be able to view all the items (that have no time) we have. Now we see only 3 or 4 no matter how big the screen is. On the left where we see "GMT+1' there should be a drop down arrow to expand the top part of the screen and see all items on all 7 days. Now the focus is too much on the hours view of the days.

Now I have to click all the days where I see: '3 items more' and cant have oversight.

  6. Birthday Entry is Very Difficult

Presently, entering a birthday requires that I use the calendar pop-up to choose the birthday and it must require a year. My friends ar 70 years old. Scrolling the calendar back on moth at a time for something like 840 months is torture. Can you make it I can just type in the birthdate so I can get on with my life?

  7. Allow sending calendar invitations to your own Proton addresses/aliases

Proton Calendar prevents users from inviting their own Proton addresses or aliases to events, even when those addresses belong to different calendars.

If I try to invite one of my own Proton aliases (e.g., personal@example.com) to an event created in a different calendar that I also own (e.g., a shared team calendar), Proton blocks the invitation. Inviting my own addresses should be allowed when the invited address is not the owner of the originating calendar.

    Why this matters?

Users with multiple Proton calendars cannot keep their schedules in sync, reducing the convenience of shared calendars.

    For example, I have:…

  8. Show Display Name in the "From" field when drafting an e-mail

When sending an e-mail, the "From" field only shows the sender e-mail address, but not the display name. It is surprising to me that the receiver sees my display name (which is hidden in a separate settings menu) when there is no indication it is included in the mail when sending it. The UI of "New message" should show the sender display name as well.

  9. Show matching filters when viewing an email

When viewing an email that has had a sieve/filter applied it would be helpful to show & link to that filter. This would make it considerably easier to update a filter that is not behaving as expected.

  10. ability to run a filter on one message

Especially for testing - running a sieve script on 5000 messages in the inbox is PAINFULLY SLOW. If it wasn't this would be less of an issue, but my scripts aren't working, and I'm trying to figure out why, and it's taking like 15-30 minutes to run the sieve script. If I could run it on one message, I could instantly (more or less) see if it's moved to another folder.

  11. Native desktop application instead of web wrapper

The current ProtonMail Windows desktop app looks like a zero-effort separate web window.

Instead, it should be a fully-featured client app, similar to the very well-built "eM Client."

  12. Dark mode not rendering correctly on mobile

When I use dark mode on the Proton Mail mobile app, it doesn't render certain emails correctly. Specifically it doesn't adjust the background color consistently, so some sections have very low contrast and become unreadable. When I open the same emails on my browser, they render just fine on all the themes. The issue seems specific to mobile. It would be very helpful to have a more consistent experience across mobile and browser. I have kind of given up on opening up emails on mobile for this reason because sometimes I truly can't ready them.

  14. Update view (with columns) of Proton Mail in iOS.

Please urgently integrate the column view in Proton Mail for iOS (especially iPad) to have a modern email client view with a column for email inbox + view of email content.
Current work is not user-friendly and the current client is like something from the 90s.

  15. Dedicated Proton Calendar App for MacOS

Instead of using the proton mail app for calendar, have a dedicated proton calendar app for macOS.

In the meantime, or if this is not something Proton wants to pursue, I would appreciate a couple of changes to the proton mail app:
I would like to be able to pick which is the default view when the app is launched to calendar instead of mail.

I would also like to be able to two finger swipe left or right to be able to scroll back and forth between different weeks or months or days instead of just having the arrow…

  16. Resizable folders panel in Column layout

On desktop and web, when using Column layout, I can resize the messages list vs. the opened message, but I can’t resize the left folders panel (Inbox, Trash, etc.). Please add an option to resize that panel too.

For me it’s way too wide, and making it smaller would give more space to the message view, which is more useful.

  17. Move calendar events

I know this is an option on the web version but on the IOS/mobile apps we NEED to be able to drag and drop events without having to open them and reselect the date or time. This is a critical feature for any functioning calendar app in my opinion.

  18. Hide "sent mail" from "all mail" view

Can you add to not view "sent" folder as well to the "all mail" filter? I use folders/filters, but sometimes would like to view "all mail", but not spam, trash or sent in the view.

  20. Edit Notification Type in Calendar ios app when creating events

When adding an event in Calendar ios app, you cannot edit the type of notification. Not even sure how the type is chosen, as it does not say.

If you want to change to alert, it has to be done via browser.

Would be nice to choose Alert or email. Or have a default setting for notification type for events
