Account-Based Calendar Integration on macOS (No Public Links)
////////////// Summary //////////////
Add native macOS calendar integration using real Proton account authentication, not public/shared calendar links. If possible also add editing rights.
////////////// Description //////////////
Currently, adding Proton calendars to macOS requires using public calendar links. This approach has significant limitations and does not meet the expectations for a secure, professional, or privacy-focused calendar integration.
Public links:
- Expose calendar data via static URLs
- Cannot reflect user permissions properly
- Are unsuitable for private, work, or shared calendars
- Do not align with Proton’s security and privacy model////////////// Problem / UX & Security Issues //////////////
- Public links are a workaround, not a real integration
- No proper authentication or access control
- Difficult to manage multiple calendars and accounts
- Poor experience for professional and enterprise users
- Inconsistent with how Proton Mail accounts work on macOS
////////////// Proposed Solution //////////////
Provide native, account-based calendar integration for macOS that:
- Uses Proton account login (authentication, not public URLs)
- Supports multiple calendars per account
- Respects calendar permissions and sharing rules
- Syncs securely with the macOS Calendar app
- Updates in real time (or near real time)
- Allows easy enable/disable per calendar////////////// Expected Behavior //////////////
- User signs in with their Proton account
- Calendars appear automatically in macOS Calendar
- Shared calendars work according to permissions
- No public links required at any point
////////////// User Value //////////////
- Proper security and privacy
- Seamless macOS experience
- Better usability for work and personal scheduling
- Makes Proton Calendar viable as a primary calendar on macOS
////////////// Priority Justification //////////////
Calendar access is a core daily workflow. Relying on public links undermines trust, usability, and professional adoption. Account-based integration is essential for serious macOS users.

"Mark as read" button closer to shorthand content
I typically only read the sender & subject line before marking an email as read, because the content of most emails is typically not important to me. This proportion of "typically" is upwards of 80%.
It is annoying to typically mark most of my inbox as read, when the "Mark as read" button is so far (in physical screen distance) from the subject lines which I am scanning.
One solution, which may not be the best, is to have a non-default setting to move the "Mark as read" button adjacent to the "Star conversation" button1 vote -
See the raw message or at least raw headers
Please allow an option to see the raw message in the app, especially ALL headers, including X- headers.
While Proton does what it can to help protect users, much more information is in the raw message, especially the headers. We are robbed of examining these in the mobile app. This is a SECURITY option.
This needn't be an "always on" option, simply a choice to see it as an option ad hoc on individual messages. Seeing all headers all the time is unnecessary. But on certain messages, I want to see everything I've been sent.60 votes -
Support older MacOS versions (e.g. Mojave 10.14.6)
Is it possible to support older OS versions with a desktop app? Even a reduced feature set would be fine.
My OS version is MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 for several reasons (stability, performance, etc.).
I still like the convenience of a desktop app to handle my various email addresses for quick access (versus web interface).

Hard wrap lines at custom widths
When writing plain text email, I typically want (or sometimes need) to enforce a maximum line length/column width in my email to ensure it is easily readable. Most commonly this is 72-80 columns, but can occasionally vary to 100-120 columns. To my knowledge, Proton Mail doesn't provide a way to hard wrap lines in this manner. So I currently have to write these emails in a separate text editor which does hard wrap lines before copy-pasting it into Proton Mail.
This is obviously quite tedious, and it would be a lot easier if Proton Mail included this feature. Perhaps there could be a setting which sets the default column width at which lines would hard wrap. And options to adjust or enable/disable it when writing a particular plain text email.

More options for end dates on recurring events
When entering recurrence the end date options are only "Never", "On date" and ""After". Can you add options to end:
"After X occurrences"
"After X months"
"At the end of the year"10 votes -
Import Ironvest Masked emails via CSV to create Hide-my-email aliases
I want to transition my over 2200 masked emails from IronVest to Proton email.
I'd like to Import Ironvest Masked emails via CSV to create Hide-my-email aliases.
Obviously Proton can't use the same masked email address, so it's mass creating new Hide-my-email aliases.
I'm not using Proton Pass & Auth yet.
And yes, it will take me forever to change all those email addresses. But I'd start with my most active ones.3 votes -
Proton Mail Bridge - Please provide official support for OpenSUSE Linux
Please provide official support for Proton Mail Bridge on OpenSUSE Linux, as well as Ubuntu/Fedora.
Although Bridge will install and work on OpenSUSE, it regularly breaks and needs to re-synchronise (which in my case takes nearly 3 hours) - and as things stand, Proton appears to currently be uninterested in bug reports due to this "currently unsupported" status.

Proton Calendar Feedback Link Goes to Wrong Forum
The 'Request a Feature' link in the Calendar tab of Proton Mail for desktop goes to:
https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932842-proton-calendar
Since the Calendar UserVoice forum has been merged with Mail, the link no longer works. Currently it this URL goes to the Lumo feedback forum. It should go to:
https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail-calendar
Proton Mail (macOS Version 1.10.1 (1.10.1))

Mail and Calendar view both simultaneously. /ProtonMail-desktop.deb
Find it inefficient to constantly switch between Mail and Calendar within the same window when need to view both simultaneously.
ie. you can't have distinct, separate windows for Mail and Calendar open at once. I guess its not suited to multi monitor setup ATM.Its great though so keep it up:)

Please add a feature to hide archived mails when I'm opening label view.

I need filter functionality.

Tokenised, deterministic, LLM powered Inbox Triage
I'm concerned that the privacy-first nature of proton will cause it to lag behind privacy-backward competitors and create relative friction in the UX which becomes a real burden.
With a secure LLM operating on your own servers this doesn't have to be the case.
You guys could implement a sufficiently constrained implementation with your in-house LLM which can pre-emptively offer very smart AI actions for those of us who don't mind it running on your servers (this is a compromise I'd be willing to make for the functionality, and lesser functionality could be offered to those who aren't).
I'm imagining pre-drafted responses, 'add to calendar', 'add reminder', 'create task' triage options similar to that which has been implemented in Gemini's interactive surfaces. It would put the value of your LLM add-on through the roof, and would ensure ProtonMail continues to be relevant in the AI age. **** it's a short step from that to a full privacy-first default e2e encrypted LLM layer over the full proton stack.
Just my 2C, reach out if you want to discuss technical elements.

WebUI - Fastmail vs ProtonMail
I've tested Fastmail webmail and the response time of the website outpaces ProtonMail in the thousands. My ProtonMail experience lately (web) is being somewhat sluggish.
Tested on Vivaldi, Edge and Firefox, same results.Not sure if I'm the only one but can this be improved?

Prompt with frequently used folders for moving emails
When the user chooses to move a message to a folder, all of the folders appear, starting at the top. It would be useful to have an option to move to, like outlook, one of the most recent, say, dozen folders, or to the most frequently used folders, and then to choose another if the folder being sought is not on that shorter list. Also it would be good if one could collapse subfolders into the parent folder when choosing where to move a message, as that would shorten the list.

Proton Calendar: Travel Time for Events
Allow users to define optional travel time before and after an event. These times are shown as blocked in the calendar, while the core event duration remains unchanged. The calendar then reflects the true time commitment of the event.

Linux Window Snapping / Tiling
Feature to drag the Proton Mail application to the left/right edge of the screen to adjust the size (just like with other apps).
In the Fedora GUI, the app has this feature for the top edge (full screen), but not for the side edges (half screen size).

Collapsible replies within an existing message
Current email messages that are replies of replies of replies are well organized in threads, however the email message itself is extremely long and having to scroll through the messages within a thread defeats the purpose if we are unable to see just the message and not the quoted text.
It would be great if you can collapse the quoted text. That's the feature request. Nothing crazy, just a way to hide sections of the email that are redundant and not useful (since the thread actually exists).

Ability to search for the label to apply in the mobile App. Capacidad de buscar la etiqueta a aplicar en la App del movil.
When I want to apply a label to an email from the mobile App, you can't search between the labels and that's essential to perform an appropriate workflow.
Cuando quiero aplicar una etiqueta a un correo desde la App del móvil, no se puede buscar entre las etiquetas y eso es fundamental para realizar un workflow apropiado.
