  2. Optionally mark email as read when archiving

I'll often go through a bunch of newletters and archive them, often without reading them. When I do, they still appear in 'All Mail' as unread. It would be good to optionally be able to 'Mark Read' when an email is archived.

  3. Lock desktop app

It would be interesting to be able to lock the Proton Mail Windows application with a security code like the Proton Pass application, both manually and after a certain time, so that you do not have to constantly log out and log in

  4. I miss the possibility for ‘to do’s’ with a check box if done in Proton Calendar.

Every day the Proton Users has things to do. In Proton Calendar the to do’s should be visible every day on top of the day. IF finished check the box and the user knows that he has done what he had to do.
Importing to do lists would make life easier.

  5. Archive and delete always mark read

Have a setting that marks all messages read when archived and/or deleted.

This is especially annoying when you already seen the title in notification on your phone and just want to archive it, you only get one click. So if you don't want the archive folder to have a "1 unread message" after that, then you have to open the app.

  6. See & Accept invites for others' calendars (if editor for them)

If I am an editor on another's calendar, I want to be able to see and accept pending invites for them FROM MY OWN CALENDAR.

EX: I help manage family members' calendar at times and I manage our family calendar. When I create and event and invite family members (ex: my wife and daughter), I cannot see it as a pending invitation on their calendars until they accept. I can view our daughter's calendar and I am an editor on my wife's calendar, but I have to open my own event to check that they were invited and I must…

  7. Pending invitation viewable (for others' calendars I can view or edit from my calendar)

I need to see pending invites on other calendars I have privileges on. If I can view or edit another's calendar, I should be able to see pending invites on theirs.

EX: I help manage family members' calendar at times and I manage our family calendar. When I create and event and invite family members (ex: my wife and daughter), I cannot see it as a pending invitation on their calendars until they accept. 8. advanced syntax in search

Mail : Advanced Search Syntax, operators and Keywords

Having an advanced search syntax ("from:user@domain.com", "to:user@domain.com", "filetype:xlsx"...) would ease and speed up the use of the search feature among mail or other apps. Many competitors propose such feature but search engines (like Duckduckgo, Brave, etc..) might also be inspiring for a powerful search syntax.

  9. Add "Custom" Labels for Contact Details in addition to or instead of "Others"

Most Contact apps and programs offer the ability to add emails and phone numbers to a contact with a custom label, e.g. "email for ...".

Right now Contacts can only have these labels for email:

    - Email

    - Work

    - Home

    - Others (Basically acts as the catch-all label, which isn't useful at all)

So yeah adding custom labels would greatly improve the usability of Proton Contacts

  10. Open attachments in a separate tab or window

It is already possible to preview PDFs and images in attachments. I propose a feature that would allow to open attachments in a separate tab or window. This way it would be possible to view attachments and read emails at the same time. At the moment, doing this requires downloading the attachment and opening it in a separate application. This should be optional behaviour and the user should be able to choose how they wish to view attachments.

  11. Support TOTP field in contacts

It would be useful if it were possible to store a TOTP code to a contact entry in Proton Mail, similar to what is supported in Proton Pass. The code would be shared with the contact. As an identity-verification feature, the contact and myself could use the time-generated code to verify by voice that the interlocutor is indeed the contact. This can be done today using Proton Authenticate but it would be useful to associate the TOTP code with a contact in the same manner this can be done for a userid in Proton Pass.

  13. Storing showing read/unread prefference

Enable making showing only read/unread/... etc a default. We can already filter on this (on desktop using Show filter in the top right), but this isn't stored. I would love for this to be stored somehow. This could be done in many ways.
    - Store it as user preference after change
    - Adding an additional setting to the settings that allows us to set the default

It is stored in the url (#filter=unread), but this is reset when clicking on the inbox button.

  16. Support adding third party email addresses to apps

Proton forces on mobile apps that their app is used as inbox for emails. Since there is no bridge for mobile apps, it would be great if at least IMAP email addresses could be added to the Proton mail app as seperate inboxes (e.g. gmail, t-online, ...)

This way, when a user has other email providers next to Proton (as probably most of the Proton users and every new Proton user) only one email app can be used for all email accounts.

  17. Reply All option with Send

    Hey,

    Love ProtonMail.

But... whenever I receive an email that is addressed to a group of people with me included... I reply and occasionally leave out the others in the group email when I'd like them to stay updated. A reply-all option would be great in the drop down menu by the Send button.

Maybe this is already in Premium or one of the other paid plans? I'm using free, but a nice little feature like that would be great. Otherwise I have to manually enter the email addresses of the other people in the group email.

    Thanks!

  18. Show All Participants in Conversation List

Currently, only the last sender is displayed in the inbox. However, when I am the last sender, the conversation appears without any visible sender, making it harder to identify the other participant(s) at a glance.
Could you consider showing all participants in the conversation list, even when I am the last sender? This would make it much easier to track conversations, especially in busy inboxes.

  19. Badge counters for labels/tags in Proton Mail

It would be very useful to optionally display a message count badge on specific labels. For example, being able to see how many emails are currently under tags like “Pending”, “Later”, or “TODO” would make it much easier to stay on top of tasks and follow-ups.

Today, labels already help with organizing mail, but without a visible count it’s easy to miss what still needs attention. Snooze helps in some cases, but it’s not a full replacement since I don’t always want to set reminders—sometimes I just want to categorize and clear the inbox without losing track.

    A simple optional…

  20. Minimal FCM notification payloads on Android

I’d like to suggest a privacy-related feature for Proton Mail on Android regarding push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).

While I understand FCM is required for timely notifications and message content remains end-to-end encrypted, notification payloads are still visible to Google’s infrastructure. Currently, these payloads may include metadata such as sender or subject, even when Android system settings hide notification content.

    Feature request:
Please consider adding an app-level setting that lets users choose how much information is included in FCM notification payloads, for example:

    Full notification (current behavior)
Minimal notification (“You have a new message,” no sender/subject/metadata)
    (Optional) Silent…
