Apple TV app
Buried in Apple's tvOS 17 announcement is support for 3rd party VPN apps on tvOS. It would be amazing if Proton VPN had a tvOS app.
Hi everyone, the Apple TV app is here! https://protonvpn.com/blog/apple-tv-app

In the announcement on Reddit early this year (below), it mentions targeting a summer 2024 release. Is there an updated ETA for this feature? Is there any way to track the status of the work happening on it?

I thought this was slated for early fall? Maybe I mis-read that, but it seemed like September? I understand that dev can be delayed, but this is a major issue as I had to subscribe to another VPN I hate...and want to use Proton for all...please work on this :-)

Please make it happen finally. I had to subscribe another VPN service to be able to stream what I want on AppleTV. But I clearly prefer ProtonVPN.

Guys what's going on with this? Apple TV is one of the leading streaming devices and we can't natively use Proton VPN on it. Been waiting for this for months.
If we reach the point that we have to make an account to nudge this, we're also reaching the point just before switching services.... -

Im moving OS soon and want to be able to access my home Country's tv channels on my Apple TV.
Is there any update on Proton VPN App coming to Apple TV? -

Have apple vision pro where it works. In order to have same vpn on all my devices and pay for 1 subscription only i consider a one fits all solution. Need to shuffle new von subscription soon. That would be the decision factor.
MVP : country selection only. Next versions adding security protocols

This is critical for me, when is this planned? As a few other users have mentioned if this does not get sorted I will have to switch providers.

I've used the proton config files at the router level for apple tv amongst other clients. Installing the proton app at the Apple tv level would increase speed for sure. I see Surfshark has an app that I tested. The speed increased quite a bit. I had trouble getting the app to connect until I added one of their DNS IP's wo the wan tab in the router. If proton gets this app running I can ditch Surfshark all together.

Definitely! The same for me. Want to cancel my nordvpn subscription. It is so nice to have a vpn app on the tv Box (and switch countries) just from your remote control. There seems to be an app for android TV and amazon fire stick, so why not for the apple tv 4k Box?

tvOS has now for some time supported VPN apps. There is no ProtonVPN app for tvOS. It is annoying to have a second VPN subscription from another provider just for the Apple TV. Please hurry

I am thrilled to see this listed as "planned"...I cannot wait to ditch my current VPN provider as I have more trust in Proton than I do in Nord, SurfShark, etc.

Please Proton Team, don't forget "NetShield" on the AppleTV App. That's the most important thing for me. But maybe it's not possible with Apple's terms and conditions :/

A must have for the Apple TV many vpn providers have now added support for the platform.

It really would be good if the team @ Proton could focus on the android TV app too, this is lacking so many basic features that it looks like it's just been forgotten about.

I'm about to take out a NordVPN subscription to use it on my Apple TV. As a Canadian living in Mexico, a VPN on my TV is the holy grail... Now that Apple TV finally allows it, you should adapt quickly and offer it as the other VPN services. Let's go!

Apple TV support would be great especially as the Apple TV hosts a powerful processor that would ensure great VPN performance (like on latest Xiaomi google TV with the ARM quad core processor), no need to configure fireguard in a router.
I see that other providers start to offer it and it's a must have. -

This would be awesome! I use my AppleTV to watch most things, and will be moving overseas in a year, so would love to have my ProtonVPN on AppleTV so I can continue streaming programming from home.

Proton seems to be one of the last VPNs to support tvOS 17. Please don’t keep us waiting too much longer!
