  1. Auto Local server

For many day uses I want to connect to the server of the city I'm actually in to avoid second guesses from myself and other services. (Aka auto local mode.)

  2. Request: Minimal “Connected” View for Android App

It would be helpful if the Proton VPN Android app offered an option to hide data (MB) usage while connected and instead showed only “Connected” with the selected VPN location in the background.

  4. Ugly Green. Offer additional VPN app theme color choices.

The new redesign is great, except for the ugly grandma kitchen green theme. Also, why is the best look you could come up with is some fading fog of war looking filter as if it's a video game from 1997?

If you're going to stick with the fog of war look, then at least allow us to choose the colors.

I'm cool with all of the other green, it's just that fog look you got. It's really the only theme color that dominates the entire space. I'd much rather that filter be disabled, but if you won't let us disable…

  5. BPay for ProtonVPN subscription payments.

So far as I can see, it's not possible to pay for a new or existing ProtonVPN subscription via BPay. This is somewhat limiting/inconvenient for those of us who don't shop online, have credit cards, or otherwise prefer to have as few bank cards/accounts as we can reasonably get away with. BPay offers a secure and convenient means to pay for services without needing a seperate card that, in some cases, will never be used for anything but those payments (ranging from once a month to once every two years).

To my knowledge, there are no disadvantages nor other reasons…

  7. Manually configuration to in-built Android VPN

Feature Proposal: Manual VPN Configuration Integration

    Objective:
Allow Proton VPN users to configure their VPN connection manually using Android’s built-in VPN client, giving users more flexibility and control while maintaining security.

    Why This Feature is Valuable

    1. User Flexibility:
Some users prefer using Android’s native VPN interface for easier switching, battery optimization, or compatibility with other apps.

    2. Compatibility:
Supports devices or scenarios where the Proton VPN app may not work, such as corporate or restricted environments.

    3. Enhanced Trust:
Advanced users can inspect and configure VPN parameters directly, fostering transparency.

    Key Features

    1. Manual Setup Guide in the App:
    • Proton VPN app provides …

  9. iOS Dynamic Island VPN Indicator

On the iPhone Dynamic Island at the top of the screen, it would be useful for proton vpn to utilize this space that Apple allows devs to use for indicators such as showing that the vpn status if connected or not.

Currently you have to swipe down to see if the vpn is active or if you go into the app to check.

Other apps including other vpns use this Dynamic Island as an indicator for a quick glance/stuatus.

  11. Kill Switch option in Profiles

    Hi ProtonVPN team,

I’d love to see an option added to the profile creation process that lets users set up Kill Switch preferences right from the start. Specifically, it would be great to choose whether the Kill Switch is enabled or disabled for that profile, and also select between the standard and advanced modes.

This would give users more control over how each profile behaves based on their needs. For example, someone might want a profile with the advanced Kill Switch enabled for maximum protection, and another with it off for more flexibility.

Thanks for your time and for continuously…

  13. Show server load before selecting secure core for each country feature, new version had removed this feature

The new version 4.1.13 did not display the server load before selecting. It is slow and troublesome to connect and found that the country server load is high and I have to switch to another country one by one to find out low server load country and this method is very inefficient and resulting proton and users unnecessary servers connecting and disconnecting. Hopefully this pre-display server load feature before secure core connection can be reinstated back into the new version.

  14. Support More flexible VPN lite package

I'm hoping for a Proton VPN Lite plans with a data limit of 3-5TB per month (priced between $4.99-$5.99 per month). The very unstable speeds and high latency at $9.99 per month are really daunting, and compared to other competing VPN products, I think it have no pricing advantage. I hope your teams'll consider it!

  15. Allow a config file or something similar for use during automated installs during Windows Sandbox spinup.

Lots of folks use the Included Sandbox with the Windows Pro versions of 10 & 11. They allow scripts to be run to install apps, like Firefox and VPN's among many others during the OS spinup process.

Allowing the .launcher to have the login and password included would be a great feature or maybe a way to drop a file somewhere that had my configuration info in a place to have your launcher pre-populate those fields for launching the vpn app would be extremely helpful. Having to open my PW manager and copy and paste both the username and password…

  16. Ability to re-arrange pinned (favorite) servers

The list of favorites is static at the moment. It would take great effort to re-arrange the list into the desired order, having to remove items, and add them in a planfull matter.

Therefore it would be very handy, if dragging the list items around would be possible. Thanks!

  17. Extend LAN network through VPN

Add a feature that allows a desktop (or a home server) to be used as an endpoint for VPN connection, allowing the user to use the internet like they are in its local network. Useful to connect to LAN devices safely without exposing them to the Web and for limited services like Netflix that blocks users from other places to connect to the same account.

  18. Manual Wireguard Peer Configuration

At the moment, have to use a provided secret key for Wireguard. This poses a security issue if you are wanting to use Proton VPN with an existing Wireguard interface.

I have some self-hosted apps running on a VPN protected by Wireguard. If I want to be able to connect to ProtonVPN and my self-hosted apps using the same Wireguard interface, I'd need to use a private key generated by Proton to access both on the same interface. This is both a hassle as I'd have to update all my configs for this key, and also a security risk as…

  19. Browser extensions remember recent servers / cities

It would be nice if the browser extensions remembered a few of your most recently used servers / cities and made those available as buttons that are shown when you click to open the extension. For example, Nord VPN's app has this feature directly below the blue "quick connect" button.

  20. Use RPKI to protect Proton VPN customers from BGP hijacking

In 2020, Proton was the victim of BGP hijacking. In a blog post about the incident, Proton said it was securing its own BGP route announcements using RPKI. However, Proton VPN's ISP (M247, AS9009) does not use RPKI to verify other sites' announcements. This can be seen by going to the Is BGP Safe Yet website Proton linked to in its own blog post. Proton should use RPKI to verify the routes to sites its customers visit so the customers are protected from BGP hijacking of the sites they visit.
