  3. On the browser extension make it so that you can do a VPN for only certain sites.

On the browser extension make it so that you can do a VPN for only certain sites. For example, I have a domain that is blocked by my ISP even though 1) I own it 2) It is safe (it is blocked because it is one of those free domains - .qzz.io) and I would like it so that whenever I go onto that domain then Proton VPN works on that domain only not all of my tabs since some domains need localisation (eg. my server that only works in the UK).

  5. More obvious status indication on the windows taskbar

The status on the current icon on the windows taskbar is so tiny I can barely see it.
When you hover over it, it does not say if the VPN is connected or not.
I would like a larger visual indication and also the status when you hover.

  6. Alternative Routing support on Linux

On many restrictive networks, Proton's default endpoints have been blocked even if the protocols haven't. The other platforms that Proton VPN runs on have the "Alternative Routing" feature, where the application connects you through a different endpoint if the default one is blocked. However, on Linux, the default *.protonvpn.net endpoints are used no matter what, which are easily restricted.

Adding this feature would mean users would be able to use the Linux client on networks that block the standard Proton endpoints.

  7. Don't require login credentials for the Proton VPN browser extension

Why does the Proton VPN browser extension require you to log into your proton account? The mullvad browser extension doesn't require this. It somehow talks to the mullvad VPN app and it just works. Could you please change this for the proton vpn browser extension?

  8. Update the Proton VPN GTK

The proton vpn app for android/iOS looks great. Why not bring the same design to Linux? I don't know about the desktop app for macOS/windows but, frankly, it looks terrible on Linux. Please redesign the Proton VPN GTK app. Thank you very much.

  9. Detect when a server has high latency or slow speed and automatically change servers

Sometimes my connection speed seems to become very slow. I often disconnect and reconnect to re-establish a decent connection speed. It would useful if profiles allowed for an option to automatically change servers when high latency or slow speed is detected.

The option could select to reconnect to the best server in the same country or region or globally - based on a function of latency and speed.

  10. Add Quick Share Support to Split Tunneling

Split tunneling does not allow adding or excluding Android Quick Share. Quick Share is a key Android system feature for transferring files between the phone(s) and a laptop. Since it is a system app, Proton VPN does not provide a way to exclude it from VPN filtering or add specific rules for it.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Enable Proton VPN on Android.
    2. Open Split Tunneling settings.
    3. Try to add or exclude Quick Share.
    4. Attempt to transfer files to a laptop using Quick Share.

    Expected behavior:
Quick Share should be available in Split Tunneling settings, or there should be a way to…

  11. Please make VPN available for older OS (Mac OS12) again.

PLEASE make VPN available for older OS again.
We got a great older MAC with OS 12 that can't upgrade anymore now has no more VPN even though we pay for it.

  12. Mac OS VPN App Sort Servers By Load

This is specifically for the Mac OS version of the app. For countries that have multiple states with multiple server, it would be great to have an option to sort the server for the entire country by load, rather than having to go into each state. This is how the iOS app works and it is much more convenient than having to manually check through everything.

  13. Show server latency

without knowing if I'll get good latency makes people hesitant to subscribe for premium plans. Let people browse the servers and see the latency they get even if it's locked out for free users.

  14. ProtonVPN CLI on Boot (systemd)

    Launching ProtonVPN on Boot

Linux users often uses a dedicated machine to store local services.
It is very important for us to have the ability to enable VPN and Killswitch feature before connecting to Internet.

Actually, It is possible to configure a systemd service using Wireguard config or OpenVPN config but no KillSwitch feature is ready "out of the box", but It would be very nice to have an OpenVPN CLI that can be used on systemd.

  15. VPN Pause with Timed ReConnection

From time to time I have to disconnect from the VPN for certain websites. I sometimes forget to turn the VPN back on. I would like to have a Pause button that works on a timed interval. Pause VPN for one hour, for instance. The VPN could alert the user just before the VPN resumes, and would be like your alarm where maybe you can Snooze the timer, or allow it to start back up.

Alternatively, if we can just have an alert when we start the PC if the VPN has been manually disconnected, then I would be notified…

  16. Detect DNS leak and warn ProtonVPN users

An encrypted DNS (Called DoH - DNS over https) is said by you (in the later linked article) to "prevents our software from being able to see the DNS queries. This makes it very hard to block or reroute them."
causing DNS leak, which can be considered a serious privacy compromise IMO.
    https://www.dnsleaktest.com
    https://ipleak.net

It seems to be too severe not to warn user about it in case it is doable from the side of your application. I guess your app tries to read the DNS request and if is encrypted, it fails and can do some action, like displaying…

  17. Request for an "App-Specific Block Log" feature

Suddenly, my smartphone's temperature rose to 43°C, and ProtonVPN's battery usage reached 38%. Upon checking, I found that while connected to the fastest server, NetShield had blocked 200 trackers in just 30 minutes.
After switching to SecureCore, the number of trackers was cut in half, and the temperature dropped to 24°C.
ProtonVPN used the most power, while Brave Nightly used the most data. This doesn’t tell us who the culprit is.
Just as I turned NetShield off, a "ClearNote consent pop-up" appeared. Although the Google Play Store stated that no data would be shared with third parties and that no…

  18. ProtonVPN Extension Login Change

When you login into the ProtonVPN Extension it would be better if it did not log into all other Proton services (Mail, Drive etc.) on the web. If you're only using that.

It should only log into the extension alone. I'm sure users will agree this is better in general for security.

  19. Split-Tunneling Fill Switch and Advance Kill Switch

Proton Unlimited has the best features compaired to other services, but needs to fix critical features with ProtonVPN:
ProtonVPN has a Regular Kill Switch, but for optimal security it needs to have an Advance Kill Switch (An advanced VPN kill switch is a security feature that prevents your device from connecting to the internet unless it is actively connected to a VPN server. Unlike basic kill switches that only activate when the VPN disconnects unexpectedly, the advanced version blocks all internet traffic even if the VPN app is closed, restarted, or during system boot-up and shutdown). ProtonVPN Split-Tunneling automatically blocks…

  20. User Interface Refresh for Fire TV/Android TV + inclusion of profiles

A major overhaul/refresh of the Fire/Android TV apps to bring in some cohesion with Apple TV, Windows and phone apps.

Also to include profile options like Fastest Location (excluding my country) for the TV apps. If not profiles, at least the Fastest Location (ex.) option.
