Implement interface which permits accessing Proton Drive as network share
As a Linux user I’m using duplicity/deja-dup for my local backups. This backup application also supports several protocols to access remote locations, such as ftp/ftps, nfs, ssh, sftp.
In order to make use of Proton Drive storage in this context it would be necessary to access Proton Drive via some of these protocols which would be of great benefit since then incremental backups would be possible.
Currently I can only make a local snapshot backup and then transfer the generated files as a whole bunch which takes considerable transmission time.14 votes -
Make it so audio doesn't close when turning your phone horizontally
I'm a music producer and upload my music to Proton Drive to listen to it on multiple devices. When I have the audio playing and I turn my phone horizontally, it closes the audio and the app takes about 5 seconds to go back to normal. If you play the music from inside a folder as I do and flip it horizontally, it closes the audio, shows the contents of the folder, glitches a bit and then goes back to the main screen
I would like it so the audio continues to play with the same screen when you turn…

allow encrypted PDF's to be opened by password
on android device an encrypted PDF cannot be opened because there is no space to input the password

Ability to give write access to third party apps
As of my understanding, third party apps can only read files from the Proton Drive cloud (Android). It would be nice if they could also write if you choose to. In my case, I would use it to save a keepass database back and forth.

More export options for documents, docx-like footers and headers.
As it is right now, it is only possible to export documents in txt,md, html and docx. You could argue that it is possible to export to pdf using the print feature, but it is not obvious and it adds a footer and an header to the file that is not removable, nor editable in any way through proton documents.
I'd like to see the ability to export to more file formats(primarily odt and pdf), and to have the possibility to add personalized headers and footers to the documents pages.

Receive an email summary of comments made in a proton drive document
Just like in Google drive (makes it super handy to see an overview of comments on a large document without having to scroll back through and find them)! (LOVE the proton docs, so beautiful... thank you for all your hard work!)

Editing pictures
As you are obviously competing with Google and other cloud storage services, the ability to be able to make basic editing on stored pictures would be appreciated.
Not asking for a fully developed photo editing suite, but some basic features like, crop, resize, contrast etc, would go a long way towards improving your ratings I'm sure.
This wouldn't need to be in any apps for now, but available in a browser would be a great start!

Support local encryption at rest
Support storing Windows (and Mac when the time comes) files downloaded from Drive encrypted on the local disk. Then, support a virtual drive that presents the files as decrypted. Two examples with good user experiences are:
- Boxcryptor, which optionally supports folder and file name obfuscation.
- Cryptomator, which always forces folder and file name obfuscation.
I personally prefer the former, but either one will be helpful.

Support for more file formats in Proton Docs
It would be great to see Docs support more file formats for import/export and editing. As a Mac user, I would like to see .pages but I’m sure others have file formats they could add to the list. Open docs, Libre docs etc…

Allow setting own storage limit warning or allow disabling it completly.
We find it very annoying that we see a warning on all Proton services, that our storage is about reaching it limit (we are using 2,5 TB out of 3 TB) and that we should uppate to a higher plan. However, there isn't a higher plan available and we still have over 500GB free storage, which is more than a regular Premium user gets overall.
This message is shown on every service every time we log in, and it is very annoying and misleading tbh. Please allow setting a own storage limit or allowing disabling those warnings systemwide.

Proton Docs - ckecklist to autosort similar to apple notes and google keep
I like the existing checklist feature in Proton Docs. However, I want the checklist to auto-sort, similar to Apple Notes and Google Keep. What I mean by autosort is that once the item is checked, that item automatically moves to the bottom of the checklist.

superscript/subscript in docs
I really like proton docs, but one of the things I am really missing is the ability to superscript/subscript in documents. It's especially important for inline citations and I think it would be a very good idea to add them. Others have already mentioned a lot of feedback like dark mode and .odt export, which are also important.

Better hide or move $Temp folders
Mark $Temp folders as system protected (or move them to safe locations), because I think it can lead to dangerous mistakes it they appear in the explorer or a shell.
Just marking the folders as hidden is not enough in my opinion since some developpers (maybe most) hide "System Protected Files" but not "hidden files".

Include additional directories in the photos backup
Users should have an option to include additional directories besides /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera
A few examples being:
Screenshots directory - /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Screenshots
Screen recordings directory - /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Screen Recordings
Legacy camera directory - /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/100ANDROMy examples are from an Android perspective, but I'm sure iPhone users would benefit from this option as well.

Folder info (size, stats)
In details I'd like to see the number of files and folders inside a chosen folder and it's total size.
It'd be also cool to be able to see details for a number of selected folders combined, so I could check the info for a few folders placed next to each other.221 votes -
Enable copy pasting files and folders in the web app
Enable copy pasting files and folders when using the web browser version of Proton Drive.
It is currently only possible to move files and folders.

Enable syncing from external drives that are Exfat formatted
Make it possible to sync files from external SSD's/ HDD's that are formatted in Exfat. Exfat is commonly used to use the external drive on Windows and Mac together. At this point this isn't supported by Proton Drive.

Share iPhone pictures in other formats
When uploading pictures from iOS to proton drive it’s uploading the HEIC file. When I want to share images in full quality over my drive instead of a messaging service they also receive the HEIC format.
Since a lot of my friends use android it’s very complicated for them to use or impossible. It would be nice to have the option to convert them if possible for easier sharing.

iOS upload photos in the background
It is my understanding the iOS photos will upload to Proton drive only if you open the Proton drive app, but it would be much better for photos to be backed up automatically, without needing to open the Proton Drive app.
