Search bar for Safari on MacOS
Be able to search the uploaded files

It sounds like non-privacy friendly, as it’s against the privacy by default core value.
A search bar might lead to a privacy breach because Proton might need to break the encryption to search for matches. -

Really needed.
Please, include a checkbox to exclude files in Trash by default. -

While we wait for Proton to finally release synchronisation between Drive and MacOS directly through the Finder (as all the competitors have been doing for many years), it's high time to add a search bar to Proton Drive when using Safari. This is even more absurd and unacceptable when you consider that the search bar exists when you're using Firefox or Chrome.
It's not really hard to set up. I don't even understand why nobody at Proton is shocked by this omission. It's a basic function! The sad thing is that this search bar already exists on Proton Mail and in the Settings section of the Proton account, even with Safari... except on Proton Drive.
OK there's the folder tree, that's good but it's not enough.
And don't tell me to use Firefox or Chrome.
I'm on MacOS, I want to use Safari!
I've already pointed this out several times, but the Proton Team hasn't reacted.
It's this kind of detail that makes me feel I'm still using a Beta when the subscription price is more expensive than the competition (even though Proton's advantages are undeniable in terms of data encryption and privacy management). In short, please ask the developers to activate this basic function on Safari. After all, that's not asking the impossible.

August 2023 : The search function still doesn't exist in Proton Drive via Safari on MacOS whereas it is there with Firefox and Chrome. It's hard to understand why this hasn't been fixed yet.

On MacOS, this exist only if you use Firefox or Chrome. But with Safari, still doesn't exist. It's absolutely impossible to understand. I've already pointed this out several times, but the Proton Team hasn't reacted.

I strongly agree the search bar should include ability to use wildcards like ? and *, and tags similar to if you were searching files on your local computer 'tags: example; example2' etc.

this exists now

Having no file name search prevents me from subscribing to Proton Drive. MEGA has it, as well as MP3 streaming and notepad editing "in place". I can live without those in Proton Drive but not the file name search.

I understand that zero knowledge of file contents makes it impractical to search through file contents on Proton Drive, but certainly it should be possible to search in the file name field by using either filters or looking for certain file types such as spreadsheets, music files, etc. Without this capability it would be very easy to permanently lose files in the tree and unable to find them.

Proton Drive plus is almost useless to me without a practical search feature as in it's current 4.0.0 beta 26 iteration I seem to be forced to download a file to inspect it's contents. Try that with thousands of files. For how long must I continue to use iCloud? I'd very much like an answer #proton #support

If you switch back and forth between Drive and Mail browser tabs, the blank space where search should be in Drive makes it seems like a glaring omission. I have to imagine they're planning to add it at some point.

Yes search feature is essential. Great job by the way.

Question, would search within Proton Drive Web app be necessary if they had an app on your OS which sync'd the files locally? I use another E2EE drive app currently (hopefully to move to Proton Drive in the future) which allows me full search using macOS Spotlight search. It probably works similarly on Windows.

would be nice, but the files would have to be indexed into a local database which would then have to be encrypted and uploaded with every change.
Perhaps an unencrypted metadata/description/keywords field would help

very difficult concept. They would need sercheable encryption. Not impossible, just pretty hard.

It would be great to have search bar in the drive. Or maybe I missed it?
