Proton Drive API
It would be amazing to have an API (like https://developers.google.com/drive/api/v3/about-sdk) to be able to make scripts that could automate uploading important files to ProtonDrive using a language like Python or similar.

Its very difficult to use proton drive for anything serious without one of these:
* Shell integration (a la Apple Drive)
* A synchronization App
* An Api (which we can use before the top 2 come along) -

I'm trying to decide where to get storage to programmatically upload clips to my video channel, and I need storage with an API. I'd love to use Proton since I have my mail and VPN there but there's no drive API

Implementing an API for ProtonDrive would significantly expand its functionality and appeal to a broader range of users and applications.
Now that I have started using ProtonDrive, I realize it has many shortcomings that could be addressed with an API (and share them with the community).

The ideea is to be able to fetch programatically files / directories shared (public). For example I may have a site to share some images / videos but without exposing the real source (Proton drive).

Would come in handy to automate remote backups.

S3 Compatible API is absolutely a must.

Our entire software development team works on Macs (18 people). Either build us Mac client or allow us to upload files to an API. Without either solutions we have to stick with Google Drive (which is bad).

This would be great to allow more options to back up to/from Proton Drive and really make it useable.

For me, this would be a main criterion before switching to an Unlimited plan

This is a massive blocker for me upgrading my plan. I'd love to have it for a personal backup solution, but manually uploading files with the web UI is rather impractical on the daily.

If such an API is designed, I suggest it takes into account the requirements of other popular APIs such as Fuse and chrome.fileSystemProvider. This isn't just a matter of wrapping, such APIs would be significantly more efficient if encryption would be done by block rather than on the whole file (for truncation and random access).

Note, there's a similar suggestion for "Open API / Tools", link:

I'm a fan of more apps by Proton, and, barring that, then open API's for third party apps to store/retrieve/edit files in Proton Drive for backups and document/spreadsheet apps, or edit/manage the Contacts, or look for emails with a certain label, etc.

A drive without api is clearly useless ...
An api can be used if we manage encryption before sending files (just need a doc for that) -

I'm a business user, and need a Proton Disk API so a program can backup files. Otherwise Disk is useless.

I use Google cloud to store music and play with an app on my phone, I would love to entirely switch to proton cloud, but can't until this feature is available

I need a place to automatically upload my weekly desktop backups. I want to use Drive, but without an API, I'd have to manually upload the file each week. In the meantime, I'm going to have to set up an S3 Bucket somewhere...

Like others, this would help facilitate the moving off my other cloud providers.

This is really critical.
An API would allow the use of tools like rclone or platforms like Zapier. Even Mega, which is heavily encrypted too, has public API and can be used via rclone.
More broadly, APIs for all Proton services would be great...
