Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

The only feature preventing me from migrating to Proton.

All new fancy features like AI assistant, sheets etc should be put on hold until this is prioritized and completed. Proton empathize highly on the current geopolitical climate between Europe and the US. Linux is a very important piece of the digital sovereignty puzzle. Get your act together and prioritize what your paying customers really wants. This is the top voted feature for a big reason.

I second what @dreadius said. Linux support should have been on the same level as Windows, not a "what if" option.

How is it possible that a company dedicated to security and anonymity doesn’t have support for Linux? It should be your number one priority to have Drive natively supported on Linux

I stopped my Proton Unlimited and switched to Mail Plus because of this. Saves me money as long as ProtonDrive is not there for Linux.
Using pCloud on Ununtu 25.10 as long as Linux Proton Drive is not supported.
Proton.. with thenew SDK it cannot be that hard to do

Proton Drive is more than 5 years old now. The service launched in paid beta on November 16, 2020. I am one of the many many Ex-Microsoft_Windows users who have moved to Linux. Linux desktop users may be only about 5% of the market but that still calculates out to be Millions of users. This trend of Microsoft users moving to Linux is just going to keep growing and growing since Windows 11 is so terrible and that AI is a disaster. I say all this in an effort to wake Proton up to the fact that you are starting to alienate a growing demographic of customers from your ecosystem and products by ignoring them. I love being a Proton paying customer and want to see the company succeed. I'm therefore asking Proton to please, at the very least, give us a STATUS of there being a Proton Drive Linux Desktop Client in our near future. Thank You!

This is super important to me and my family and I've been waiting for years. Please supply a linux client before my renewal date or lose another paying customer.

Come on, like many other I am trying to get out of Microslop and Crapple but it is plain impossible without a Linux client. Been running Ubunto for 6m and will not come back. But not having Drive sync on Ubuntu is a productivity killer. It is way past due and will have to think about alternatives

After years of waiting, being a paying user on various personal and business accounts over the years… I’m leaving Proton. It’s not fair that Linux users are abandoned when it comes to the Proton Drive client. In May 2026 my two paid subscriptions will not be renewed. It’s been a mixed experience—many apps work perfectly and integrate well—but not being able to sync directly with the cloud is a deal‑breaker for me. Goodbye, Proton.

we waiting for this for 4 years now. we are patient but this is a working tool, not a nice to have. please consider this as priority addition, all linux users can not use proton drive since you launch it for syncing. thanks

Must-have for me, since everything runs on Linux. This is why I haven't finished migrating from Google, and it might be the deal-breaker for Proton next year.

Regarding what Ozer said: Filen is better than Proton Drive as it is anyway; much better. The price is good also.

Staying on Filen for the time being and no reason to upgrade any further. Just saying
