Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

My subscription still has time left, but if there is no working app for Linux by the end of it, I'm gone.

It's crazy to me you cranked out Ai before completing your other products Specifically Proton Drive for Linux. I am a cross platform developer myself and prefer Kubuntu over everything else out there. Plasma is the WAY. I use Rclone Browser currently and it works okay but it's tedious and ugly. I would throw money and my own labor at developing this if needed. Anything to make it happen at this point... We are all waiting in lost love of Linux land.

SDK rework pointing to Proton Drive for Linux was mentioned again in roadmap https://proton.me/blog/proton-2025-autumn-roadmaps

Another year another disappointment. I've been using proton for my business for 2 years now under the assumption that Linux support would be coming. Unfortunately, it's about time I cancelled my proton subscription and moved over to Office 365 or a service provider for Nextcloud. I had really high hopes for proton as I thought they would finally be the one to provide a decent office suite for work that supported Linux.

With Windows ending Windows 10 support, I would imagine there will be a lot of people coming over to Ubuntu and they will be wanting to have the ability to sync their Proton Drive like they could on Windows. This really needs to happen soon.

We need Linux support because we cannot work with bulk files in a web browser and I absolutely do not trust 3rd party software with my Proton information.

I need Linux support for my Proton Drive. I cannot work in bulk through the web interface. I can't be the only Linux user out here that is struggling with this.

@Yannick Doe -- filen.io doesn't support Unix/Linux symbolic links. It copies the file the link points to; it doesn't save the link itself. Not usable for Unix/Linux cloud storage.

@Jean-Claude: You can always use Filen.io.

I’ll remain for another year to wait for this Linux feature—coming from the Google ecosystem, it feels like a significant regression for me. After that, I’ll evaluate other solutions for sharing my data across multiple platforms.

I am waiting for this possibility. It is impossible to migrate from windows to linux if there is nothing to replace onedrive.

I don't know how one of the most requested feature is behing left out. Should be a priority for the drive application...

Hey, why can I do this on Windows (which I no longer use) but not on my beloved Linux?

It is very disappointing to switch back from the no longer supported Windows 10 to Ubuntu and find out that there is no ProtonDrive client for Linux. Are you asking me to sync files manually via the browser? Or do you suggest cancelling the subscription and back-up-ing files on an external HDD? Or maybe your suggestion is to embrace the retro lifestyle and go back to using floppy discs, or why not even papyrus scrolls, call it slow living and spend more time hiking in nature and meditating?

With the changes arriving for windows 11 a lot of people will go to linux. The way windows is behaving is not acceptable !!!! Plus I want to quite Drop box to put all my information on proton Drive wich I trust.
I decided to do so and realised that I can not use proton drive on linux. When are you plaining to make it possible ? -

Hi All,
I've already "gotten over it" and I've cancelled my Unlimited subscription after having it a number of years. It was up for renwal in November, so I moved everything to more "best of breed" solutions. Proton is a reasonably good one stop shop, but individually the applications are less than ideal. Drive is especially slow across all platforms anyway. Mail is also slow. They don't devote enough bandwidth resources to these applications.
They don't care about Linux anyway. There aren't enought Linux users for them to care about. I found other solutions that support Linux equally. It's a numbers thing. In a way, Proton did me a favor by causing me to become aggravated and inconvenienced enough regarding Drive for Linux that I did the work to find all things better.
Best regards

Agreed. I like Lumo, but there are way more important things to focus resources on, like matching the core functionalities of the Google Suite. The wallet thing is just pointless. There's plenty of other open source, private, and secure crypto wallets that are way better, so it doesn't solve any problems.

I'm a "Visionary Subscriber," and I'm done waiting for this. There'll be an adequate API before I renew, or I'll move on. Microsoft is no longer an option for those that give a **** about their privacy.
Get on it, or I'll get over it and find another solution.
Sincerely,

If you want to support privacy, you have to support Linux
