Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

I'm finally settling into the Linux world (being a fed up Windows user). After every distro change I've made over the last few months (it appears to be a required activity for new Linux users), I check to see if a Proton Drive client is available for Linux. Looking at the recent comments here, I conclude that I may have to resign from the optimist's club. What gives?
To echo what others have said, skip the AI and bitcoin and low up-voted feature requests. If people (including me) are lining up, waiting to pay for the full suite of Proton Products; but not implementing this feature is stopping people from handing over their hard earned cash, then can someone please get a copy of these comments over to accounting, or directly to the CFO of Proton? If that doesn't do it, I'll be happy to put together a quick PowerPoint -- errr, OnlyOffice presentation -- outlining the many financial benefits of selling cars and SUV's with four wheels instead of three. -

I currently have a self-hosted Nextcloud for the whole family and ProtonMail Plus.
As soon as we get a Linux Client, I can drop Nextcloud, and move to ProtonFamily, so I can re-invest the hosting price in Proton, and have one fewer thing to worry about -

I feel like this should be priority 1.

Visionary user. Proton drive is useless to me without a linux client with some basic unattended sync capabilities.
Can someone @ proton please provide some official response to this longlasting thread please. -

The lack of a Proton Drive Linux client is blocking my complete migration to the Proton ecosystem (as I'm a Linux user). The Linux client for Proton Drive is the last brick missing from your excellent edifice.

Bump.
Yeah, add my name to the growing list of Linux users who would love to see this.

Absolutely astounding that there has been radio silence on this since Drive launched. If Proton didn't have any Linux desktop apps, I'd completely understand (although, I wouldn't agree!). But they have Linux desktop apps for Mail, Calendar, Pass, VPN, Bridge... so this is not uncharted territory.
This thread has been running for nearly four years now. It'd not good enough that they haven't either refused to build it or announced pending support for it.

I'd happily pay for Linux file integration.

It needs a Linux Client to be useful for me. The way it is I just can't see enough reason to upgrade my plan from Mail to Unlimited.

Not much more to say in this thread. A Linux client is an absolute must. As a paying customer, I would also agree to pay a bit more, if that would advance the topic. Unlimited + Linux option? Ok!

Pretty sure the webapp simply does not work for Linux users that want filesystem integration... that is the main purpose of a Linux client. The fact that they don't have this for Linux is definitely keeping the value of a Proton subscription lower for many people, so of course they're not going to get a subscription when it doesn't have what they need. I personally have the Unlimited plan, but I completely understand this being a dealbreaker for a lot of people. I do agree that Proton needs more resources before we can expect them to add this, but... I think they could at least give us a realistic timeline for this instead of radio silence or promises of "down the line" or "in the future" etc.

I just migrated all my data to #ProtonDrive and finally getting my work laptop migrated to Linux and i just learned there is no app for this on linux?! This is crazy! Please get this going, drive is why i upgrated to Unlimited family plan. 100% need to bail on Proton platform without #Linux #Proton Drive client!

They just came out with a ******* bitcoin wallet and have still not made their drive functional for the people who are privacy focused enough to refuse to use windows. (apple's not a lot better)
No one was asking for their Google services replacement to make a bitcoin wallet. One of the most voted for features is the simple ability to sync with one of the most privacy focused operating systems (depending on how it's configured).

I don't know *how many times I have to say this* - There is no problem accessing the web app of Proton Drive under Linux, working fine here even if it could do with one or two improvements. If privacy and security are what is important to you, you certainly would not want a Linux desktop app that's anything like the current Windows Drive one. In its current implementation Drive desktop sadly should be a definite 'thumbs down' for a privacy (and security) focused ecosystem.

This is one of the most upvoted features. And instead we get a friggin bitcoin wallet?

Windows decreasing functionality and quality makes me want to move to Linux. Having the ability to use my drive natively is important to me to get the full usage out of my Unlimited subscription.

I use Ubuntu on my macbook Pro , Macos for this machine (mid2012) isn't supported. It's necessary for me, Proton Drive must have this ability

More time passes and Proton throws out more apps, which are have little value and are ethically questionable (AI), while neglecting core basics most desired by its userbase. I'm a paying, long-time customer, and a linux client or at least minimal support that enables other people to create linux clients, remains in a state of neglect.
