Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

I'd like to move away from Dropbox and Google Drive. Both of those services allow me to mount files on my Fedora Linux host but Proton Drive does not. That puts a fork in the eye of my migration, so to speak.

I'm going to go full-Linux for personal use soon and I would like to make use of Proton Drive for syncing across my devices. A Linux client (both GUI and headless) is critically needed for Proton Drive.

I am also switching away from Google ecosystem, but not having Linux file sync functionality prevents me from making use of Drive.
I am also paying a lot of money for Proton services, and so far it's not been an easy ride. -

I`m thinking about switching from the Google ecosystem to the Proton one. Being able to mount Proton Drive remotely on my Ubuntu Linux machine is the game-changer that will make me do it. As otehr users have correctly pointed out, a Flatpak would be the appropriate way of implementing this.

I can't believe this is not available yet. It is such an important feature.

I'm a Proton Unlimited subscriber with an annually renewing subscription. Over the past year, I've been migrating from Windows to Linux. About 80-90% of my time is now on Linux. I've even been interested in Proton Drive for a while. I've even considered upgrading to a higher tier Proton subscription plan for the sake of increasing my Proton Drive space. However, until a viable Linux syncing solution emerges for Proton Drive, I can't move forward with such an idea.
P.S. As a Fedora user, I also hope that if a Linux app does materialize, that it can support us non-Ubuntu users too, say in the form of an appimage, flatpak app, or an .rpm offered alongside the usual .deb.

I think this is a must. Even gdrive, mega, dropbox, ... have linux compatible options.
If there was a Linux App, I would love to use it. -

Linux is the daily driver for security minded folks. I'm also a Visionary member.
Would be interested in seeing it done like a Git repo, if that is easier.

I hope Proton Mail Bridge can integrate Proton Drive as well

I am using SpiderOak One for secure file storage and syncing between machines. They haven't said they are discontinuing that service but they have said they are now a "space oriented" company. I would love to use Proton drive instead.

This is must-have, since people concerned with security tend to be Linux users. I can't purchase Proton Drive until there is Linux support.

This is really critical for the usability of the storage solution

Still waiting for that commitment and support for the community that helped get Proton up off the ground.

Proton focuses on privacy and thus appeals to people that value privacy. Those people often use linux as well therefore need an drive app similar to windows to properly use Proton Drive.

We need this integrated in proton bridge !
As proton bridge do with local imap, it could also offer caldav, cardav and webdav (or wathever we can connect with solid, standard and integrated local apps. -

As Linux is my primary desktop, this would help me use ProtonDrive and stop using GoogleDrive.

Currently Proton doesn't even mention Linux in their roadmap
"The Proton Drive team is currently working on two new apps: standalone desktop apps for Windows and macOS."
I really wish they gave some love to Linux users...

it's very important for me to mount my proton drive on my local Linux systems and let's my apps use it, web browser is not a solution for me.
Like the VPN app is not really usable, and no calendar app.
I think Linux users must have the same apps like the others OS.
I'm searching now an alternative who support natively Linux systems for mail/vpn/calendar/drive naturally with strong encryption and privacy. -

I'd love to be able to mount my Proton Drive in my Ubuntu system and have my applications be able to access these files.
