Regarding what jeronath commented: I did exactly those things after being a Proton Unlimited user for a number of years. Mullvad VPN is much better (more stable). Filen Drive is much better (much faster and more stable). Tuta Mail is much better in general. My Unlimited subscription is set to expire very soon and I've already canceled the subscription. If you think about it, Proton probabaly considers Linux users a liability given the small number of us compared to Windows and MacOS users. As far as being aligned with Linux users becuase of the interest in privacy - forget it. They could care less. Good riddance.

    Hi All,

I've already "gotten over it" and I've cancelled my Unlimited subscription after having it a number of years. It was up for renwal in November, so I moved everything to more "best of breed" solutions. Proton is a reasonably good one stop shop, but individually the applications are less than ideal. Drive is especially slow across all platforms anyway. Mail is also slow. They don't devote enough bandwidth resources to these applications.

They don't care about Linux anyway. There aren't enought Linux users for them to care about. I found other solutions that support Linux equally. It's a numbers thing. In a way, Proton did me a favor by causing me to become aggravated and inconvenienced enough regarding Drive for Linux that I did the work to find all things better.

    Best regards

And, when they finally get there, it needs to work better than the one(s) that we alrady have. I've mentioned this several times in responses to the "Linux Client" issue. I used the MacOS client. It's somewhat temperamental. I got so tired of waiting on the linux client that I sought other solutions. I tried a number of them. Some were garbage. The only one I found that "just works" is Filen (Filen.io). My description would be that it works like the exiting Proton clients should work. The upload/download speeds are amazing compared to the Proton client. For 200 GB, it's about $2.34 per month USD. It's based in Germany so it's covered by GDPR (good enough).

Unlimited plan here. I hope the Proton Drive Linux Client is more stable and less "fragile" than the client for MacOS. I can't speak for the Windows client. The I/O for the MacOS client is terribly slow. The syncing is tenuous and somewhat erratic. I'm using Filen now which works like the Proton client should work. I'm afraid it's going to be a long while before I trust Proton Drive enough to actually use it for much.

Filen.io (Filen) works great! You can sync local folders across devices. They have clients for Mac, Windows and Linux. You can also just have a web drive if you don't want the data to reside on a device. The iOS and Android apps work well. It's very reasonably priced too.

Filen.io just works. Trying to use the web app in Linux is next to impossible. I decided that I wasn't going to waste a lot of time using it or waiting on a Linux client from Proton.

I considered sevaral of the other solutions available that had Linux clients. They either didn't match my minimum requirements (cross platform, open source (enough), end-to-end encrypted, etc., or when I tried them by getting monthly subscriptions and trying them, they just didn't work very well. Some were just terrible.

I finally tried Filen.io. You can mount the drive or you can sync a local folder on multiple devices. As with anything, you have to figure things out - no problem. Filen.io is quite stable and just works.

So, I've found a solution that works and that's quite reasonably priced. In fact, its seems to work better than Proton Drive on platforms that have a Proton Drive client. Would I prefer that Proton provide a Linux client? Yes. Am I going to remember that they didn't and disregarded the Linux users? Yes. Am I going to be in a hurry to switch to a Proton Drive Linux client when it becomes available? No. Am I going to consider all of this when my current Proton subscription is up for renewal? YES!

Regarding a Proton Drive Linux client: I'm beginning to wonder about the company's motivations given the number of votes and comments. I pay good money for my Unlimited subscription. I don't HAVE to keep subscribing.

Ditto what Chuck Biscuits just said. Proton, help your US customers out. Things are getting too weird here. I want to move completely away from all US tech as I'm sure many more also want to do. We need a Linux client for Proton Drive. This may be a very good opportunity for Proton.

This is mentioned in other suggestions, but this suggestion is for one single thing. Please add the ability to create a checkbox list in Proton Pass Notes. This is the one single reason that I can't use Proton Pass for my notes.

    Hello Proton,

Thank you for all you do! Another user mentioned adding note types in Proton Pass Notes similar to Standard Notes. Specifically and hopefully, adding a checklist with checkboxes might be quite easy.

Yes, file tags would make things so much better. Refer to MacOS file tags. As another user suggested, Proton Mail labels is a good way to implement tags also. Being able to have multiple tags for each file would be wonderful. This is one of the main reasons that I really can't use Proton Drive. What you've created so far is very good. Given that files are searchable from the browser interface makes Proton Drive reasonably useful, however I haven't adopted Proton Drive yet mainly because of the file tags issue.
