File Viewer and Media Player
I think you should have a file viewer or player for files that are linked to/in your Proton Drive, much like Google Drive does -- not just downloads of such files.

having the ability to preview images and videos such as how Google drive allows would be amazing to have on proton drive, especially when sharing big folders of images with friends and family

Preview already works when browsing Drive as owner, but not on shared link page. Upvoted this.

Today i was able to play mp4 and also webm file. :-) If you can not play it, it is possible that the format is not playable in a web browser.
I think that you should close this in favor of this one:

Feature with much usability!
Would be also great to have a doc/exl-like files editing option (espacially for paying users)

Yess that would be great. I remain on Google Drive only because of this. That would make me switch.

When sharing a link to a video file, the end user should be able to start a preview within their web browser of the content without having to fully download the file to their computer.

Agree. Have the option to download on media player only. Particularly when sharing with others

Howdy,
I tested a few files and as of now there are no players integrated in PD. The only things I could directly open are picture files. I would like to replace Google and Apple services with Proton services as far as possible. Therefore the following features would be required to be included in PD:1. I have my entire music library organized in YT Music(formerly Play Music). I would gladly transfer my whole library to PD if PD would include a fully immersive music player AND full Android Auto support and compatibility.
2. An iOS app that can be fully integrated into the phone, like iCloud. Will say, having the option to select PD as automatic cloud location for photos or videos, as 1:1 iCloud replacement.
3. More affordable storage capacity extension options. $0.75/month is quite a price for 1Gb given the fact, that I am already paying $115 for the PM and VPN Plus annually.
Cheers

i want to select more images or a map and then view the images in rotation automatically. especialy in ipad modus. So i can view multiple images with my grandchilderen. Also a function to set 98% to lower or higher % and save this so it will show all pictures in the same size. Now i have to make each image bigger.

Have ability to see video right from the drive webapp, like youtube. Instead of needed to download it completely.
Without video streaming, uploading videos to drive is pointless from my usage benefits perspective. The need to download the video files destroy the usability.

I agree, at minimum, basic media types need to have in-app previews: images, sound files, videos and common document formats (texts, presentations, etc).
Actually, this is required for the security of file sharing on ProtonDrive: without previews, the recipient always has to download the content to their device. Someone else may have access to that device currently (shared with a family member, or it may be a work laptop/phone), or there may be unauthorized access in the future (the device is lost, or it runs a vulnerable operating system and is infiltrated by a virus, or a future owner may be able to restore deleted data from the hard drive).
It's important to emphasize that the preview should be available to the *recipient* of the link as well. Currently the little preview that is available (only for images I think) is only available to the uploader from within ProtonDrive. The recipient can't preview it.
Bottom line: if interaction with the content can stay within the browser, most of these scenarios won't mean a threat to the privacy of shared data.

.pdf preview has seemed to work well for me, I'm not sure if there would be any more difficulty with something "proprietary" like the Microsoft suite, I personally use FOSS office software and some of their more common standards could be used as a test bed for previews. Definitely an awesome tool though.

Nice..? This is must. Why save your files safely encrypted if you have to download them to see them. This is needed for ALL file types on both desktop and apps for tablet/phone. The next thing should be online editing - and gsuite is gone for me.

Would be nice to have a built-in player in Proton Drive to play audio files (wav, mp3, etc... ) directly instead of downloading them.
