Edit file metadata (including photos)
Don't need much. Currently, the Photos portion of Drive doesn't have any capability beyond view photo.
I would like to be able to upload lots of photos and re-arrange them/fix metadata issues.
Primarily, Windows has taken some of my old photos I've edited/restored and made the Date Modified to today's date, when the photo date taken was 1965. But when I upload to Photos, it appears as today's date.
I should be able to easily go in and correct these mistakes.

meta data can be lost while importing photoøs and would like to correct that

This would be a really useful addition. Managing photo metadata manually takes so much time, especially when working across platforms. I’ve used tools like https://reminniapk.com/
to enhance and organize photos before uploading — having built-in metadata editing would make things even smoother. -

Editing the metadata (especially date) gets a big thumbs up from me. Also adding a description field that can be searched would help.

I am giving Proton a try after many years as a (paid) Google Photos user. My entire collection is now a mess of old and new photos and videos. Allowing it to fix the dates would already be a huge improvement.

This is very frustrating. It scrambles all photos. Even if upload an image i change the metadata for, Drive sometimes just say it is from "today". It makes history unusable.

+1 this is super important.

+1 as I just imported 20.000 photos from Google and need this desperately to fix my timeline!

I would be a very happy person if this feature would become available.
Edit: For anyone looking for a good alternative in the meantime, I would suggest the 'Bulk Rename Utility' by TGRNM.

Even if its just a crappo date taken fixer tool, full metadata editing can come later

+1, this is a dealbreaker.

When migrating from other services (e.g. Google Photos) to Proton drive, for video's the date of download/upload is used as time stamp instead of the creation date in the file's metadata. Being able to correct this in an easy way instaed of fiddling locally on the CLI or otherwise would for sure make it lots easier for people to migrate to Proton. In fact, it's the main reason my wife is not convinced we should make the switch (usability), and I suppose this is not an isolated opinion. Next to that: thanks a lot for the great work @Proton!

Yes this is critical. Currently I'm paying for a subscription on ente photos but it seems absurd, since I have more than 500GB free on my proton drive. But uploading photos here is frustrating because half of the time it is unable to get the right dates!

This will be so helpful! I want to transition from Google Photos and this is the only feature that Proton doesn't have that is holding me back!

editing photo metadata would be incredibly helpful. I just imported several hundred photos and it misaligned about 30 or so for whatever reason to have today's date. Now they do not show up in order and I cannot see any way to change that other than to delete and reupload

That would be a welcome feature, modify metadata and the ability to add searchable tags or description

I do not think that proton drive is the place to manage the metadata of files. The way the dates get interpreted used and presented to the user are more important to me. proton drive should use the modified dates correctly!
I am under the impression that proton drive has a problem with handling dates. The column "last modified" always shows the same date e.g. the upload date. This is totally useless.

The other metadata I would like to see is the ability to add a searchable description or caption to a photo. This would at least give the ability to manually tag who or what is in a photo for ease of finding it later via a text-based search, rather than needing to rely on image recognition for photos.

I would LOVE the ability to edit the metadata on photos and videos so that they display correctly in the time-bound photo view. I have a huge number of videos and photos where their edited date is not close to the date that the photos were taken, like with scans of old photos and the like. I can't load my photo archive into Proton without the ability to correct the date info.
