Add Shared Folders to Proton Drive Sync
My wife and I fully utilize the Proton sharing features across the platform. We share files in Proton Drive, but the biggest gap for us is not being able to sync shared folders/files (using Proton Drive Sync for MacOS). The only way we can access the files that have been shared is through the Proton Drive web application.
Why is it so important that we be able to sync using MacOS?
Because we heavily utilize the MacOS Spotlight feature to find specific files that contain specific search terms in the body of the document. For reasons we understand, this feature cannot be made available in Proton Drive (the web application or mobile applications). However, we use MacOS Spotlight to deliver what Proton Drive cannot. As such, it is imperative that we be able to sync shared folders to MacOS,

Was actually quite disappointed that "shared with me" is not available on MacOS.
For business use, this makes shops with a MacOS having an unnecessarily hard time.

Since Proton Drive doesn't allow you to choose arbitrary folders, it's relegated to being a secure vault rather than a viable option for everyday use. That's been the main reason we haven't adopted it so far. The same applies, and even more so on Android.

You simply can not talk about a DRIVE if you can't see what you are sharing... It will be 5X votes if the features were not related to a MacOS app... I won't pay and switch until this is done and I'm glad I didn't paid first. And it's not clear if this is part of the upcoming roadmaps. (Are you also talking about the shared folder?) :
"You’ll be able to select any folder for syncing on Mac, similarly to how you select folders on Windows today, with the same functionality on both platforms. It’s by far the biggest missing feature of the Drive Mac client."

It's more than ridiculous that this feature is requested in 2023 and still not made by Proton. Guys seriously, how TF are we able on MacOS to directly upload Proton Drive files into other software if this VERY basic feature is missing??? @Proton; why are you guys not prioritizing this?

No way this is not a standard feature 🤯
My spouse will kill me for having switched to Proton Drive without securing that it has this basic feature.
Goodbye all ... life was nice up until now 💀

Agreed, Drive isn't adoptable until shared files work natively on a Mac. Until then I have to continue to use a different vendor, which I'd much rather not do. It's seems like a shame to get Drive so close to usable but not push it over the finish line.

This feature is of up most importance, especially for proton business users. If this doesn't get fixed soon I might have to look for alternatives to proton.

Shared folders sync should be a basic feature, especially for Duo and higher accounts. I cannot upgrade to Family until this gets done.

It seems like this would be a basic feature. Especially since it exists on Windows. Please make this a priority.

Its killing me that I lack a hierarchical tree of folders for me to share with my colleagues. I routinely have files of the same names under different folders {here's the insurance folder for our 8 clients, here's the venue folder for the same) and my colleague can't even distinguish them without opening them. worse than useless. please make a directory structure that can be shared.

Switching from Synology, we also use this feature extensively to share access to Team/Family folders with full sync across all devices and accounts.

Are there any updates on this? Roadmap? Signs that this is tracked by Proton.

Evaluating Proton Drive for our small business because privacy matters to us, but our whole business folder lives under "Shared with me", which means it's NOT searchable (search only covers "My files") and doesn't sync to macOS.
For a business relying on its files day to day, not being able to search our own business's files is a dealbreaker. Please prioritize making shared folders first-class, searchable, and syncable. Having to now explore leaving Proton Drive for something else, since this is such a necessary function that is completely missing.

Waiting for years now. Proton will continue to ignore this issue. They've gone as far as deleting their own announcements stating that is was coming here https://proton.me/blog/proton-2025-autumn-roadmaps and here https://proton.me/blog/drive-sdk-january-2026. And now it's not even on the current roadmap https://proton.me/drive/roadmap, nor was it mentioned in the latest update https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonDrive/comments/1vyy38c/proton_drive_roadmap_for_the_second_half_of_2026/. I'm a Visionary member but this feature alone is forcing me to cut ties with Proton. Beyond frustrating.

Previously I have tried OneDrive, Google Drive and iCloud. OneDrive and Google Drive handles shared folders very well. iCloud not so much, at least not on Windows. When trying out Proton Drive, I find that it currently only supports what Google Drive refers to as computer backups.
