Add Shared Folders to Proton Drive Sync
My wife and I fully utilize the Proton sharing features across the platform. We share files in Proton Drive, but the biggest gap for us is not being able to sync shared folders/files (using Proton Drive Sync for MacOS). The only way we can access the files that have been shared is through the Proton Drive web application.
Why is it so important that we be able to sync using MacOS?
Because we heavily utilize the MacOS Spotlight feature to find specific files that contain specific search terms in the body of the document. For reasons we understand, this feature cannot be made available in Proton Drive (the web application or mobile applications). However, we use MacOS Spotlight to deliver what Proton Drive cannot. As such, it is imperative that we be able to sync shared folders to MacOS,

Plus one million. I'm having the same problem. I was assuming this would work in a similar way to Dropbox or any other file sharing, but nope. I cannot see the files or folders that are shared with me. For me, this is also a deal killer. Was trying to convince my organization to switch from Google Drive, but this makes it impossible because of the inability to edit spreadsheets. PLEASE prioritize this, as it is the most basic of sharing features.

I can't migrate to proton drive without this.
I have a family, and I would like a shared folder that grants access to a subset of family members. The current shared functionality is very cumbersome and doesn't feel adequate.

It is a critical feature. We cannot collaborate with a shared folder without using the web interface on MacOS. It would be way faster to see and interact with the shared folders directly into the finder as any other drive folder self owned.

Essentially, the team drives functionality from Google Workspace would be much appreciated here, as well as larger file streaming limits. Just got a plan and I am actually quite disappointed in these limitations.

I too am trying to use this feature to actually collaborate and not send one-way files. Without sync it is impossible to collaborate on a spreadsheet with others.

We need this too, for Mac AND Windows.
In my family, we currently use dropbox to share files and sync them to all our computers. I want to swith to proton, but this missing feature is currently a deal-breaker.
I also need this feature for work, where it also prevents me from migrating completely away from dropbox.

I'd like to emphasize the ability to share folders/drives with other users without having to send a link each time they need updated files, but to be able to save their work and it be very immediately and automatically synced with the other users who have access to this folder/drive. Shareable by local and/or cloud server.
ShareFile has this ability and it would make things much easier when one user saves the document and another user can open up the file on their computer elsewhere to view the new and most recent saved file in a work place setting. We had a local server we used for this feature. We would love to have this ability back through Proton Drive.

We request the introduction of a feature in Proton Drive that allows users to create and manage multiple shared drives, each with its own set of users and permissions. These shared drives should be fully integrated into the Proton Drive ecosystem, appearing with a complete hierarchy of folders and files across all platforms (web application, Windows, macOS, Linux, Android).
Feature Details:
Multiple Shared Drives: Users should be able to create distinct shared drives for different projects or groups. Each shared drive should operate independently, allowing for separate management of users, permissions, and storage quotas.
User and Permission Management: Administrators of a shared drive should be able to define and manage access permissions for each user. This includes read, write, and administrative rights, tailored to the specific needs of the shared drive.
Hierarchical Folder and File View: All shared drives should present a full hierarchy of folders and files in the Proton Drive interface. This feature should be consistent across all platforms, ensuring that users can navigate the shared drive structure easily, regardless of the device or operating system they use.
Cross-Platform Consistency: The feature should be accessible and functional across all major platforms, including the web application, Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. This ensures a seamless user experience and easy access to shared resources from any device.
Benefits:
Improved Collaboration: Facilitates better collaboration by providing a structured and organized way to share and manage resources.
Enhanced Security and Control: Fine-grained permission settings enhance data security and ensure that only authorized users have access to specific files and folders.
Streamlined Workflow: A consistent hierarchical view across all platforms simplifies navigation and improves productivity, allowing users to quickly find and manage the files they need.
Conclusion:
Implementing multiple shared drives with a hierarchical view in Proton Drive will significantly enhance its functionality and usability, making it a more robust solution for teams and organizations that require secure, efficient, and flexible file sharing and collaboration tools. -

When creating a family (or business) account, it should be possible to create a secured shared folder for all members of the group.
Currently the "head of the family" can share one of their folders but this shows up in "shared with me". However this space doesn't seem to have the same functionalities as your own folders, in particular, it is not accessible on the iPhone app and more importantly it does appear in the finder extension.
Proton Mail (with your own domain) is a great way to set up secure email for a small organization. It would be great if Proton Drive could serve as the organization file system.

A default shared folder is great, but multiple shared root folders is better. Once set up for sharing, they should automatically show up in the other family members Proton Drive (or other Proton users outside the family). Basically, make it work simply like iCloud sharing, only obviously better and more secure like Proton.

I agree with this completely. My family lives abroad and we want to have a shared folder for pictures, as we are archiving the family collection (generations of pictures!). I was really hoping that Proton Family could replace Google Docs this way.
Apart from that, maybe giving users in general the ability to grant access to other people (sorry to bring up the big evil G again but, yeah... just like G does, or in a similar way). I realize there's security features that Proton does much, much better, and with encryption and all these features aren't always as simple to implement as it seems to us laypeople/users. But it'd be a fantastic feature that would certainly help to retain me as a Family plan customer.

Proton Family admins should be able to toggle on/off three separate functions: shared calendar, shared folder, and shared contacts.
These items would be visible to everyone in the Proton Family.
I would benefit so much from this. Help me Obi-wan-protoni, you're my only hope.

I can only echo this requests. For families it is needed to have a default shared folder for all members in addition to each individual own directories.

Probably easier to have the possibility to share folders with other users and that the folder becomes shared as it is with dropbox or one drive - i can imagine this causes encryption issues, but thats an important functionnality

On creation of a Proton Family account, automatically generate a shared folder where all members of the group will have access. Allow the group admin to adjust the size of the shared space and to adjust read/write/delete permissions of each individual family member..
The current method of sharing via links and passwords is cumbersome.
