Photo deduplication feature
The Drive does not mind importing photos multiple times, even though being advertised differently.
Examples:
- exact same name, created date, but different last modified date => 2 copies.
- modified photo on iPhone => 2 copies (not 1 photo with two different states)
- importing the same photo from multiple sources => multiple copies
This is driving me crazy, as I want to have a single version of a single photo and don't want to waste my time merging etc. The switch to Proton was supposed to be simple.

I completely agree, this is my biggest frustration in using Proton for me and my family (as a family subscription) as we all have a lot of photo's.
All of us have Samsung Ultra series phones and editing a photo makes it upload twice, without any means to deduplicate. Also the albums from Samsung to not move over to Proton so I wanted to make albums manually and then periodically remove the photos not in any album, but I can't filter on this either.
Right now the whole Photo backup is completely unusable and I pay double for it to do it somewhere else. If this isn't fixed when my sub ends, I probably wont renew.

Agreed, it’s very annoying to have pictures double when using iCloud Photos as well to save space on phone locally. It creates double entries in Proton Drive
