Proton Docs lacks advanced formatting capabilities compared to Google Docs, making it unsuitable for professional documents. Essential features are missing: headers/footers, multi-column layouts, footnotes, table of contents, watermarks, and customizable paragraph styles. This forces users to choose between privacy and professional presentation quality. Proton should prioritize implementing these formatting tools to become a viable alternative for privacy-conscious professionals.

Such a disappointment! I was looking to replace Google Workspace and transfer my docs here. I agree completely with Phil’s assessment above. As it stands, without improvement in this area, I plan not to renew next year.

While the above updates will take effort, they are absolutely necessary ... the sooner the better. As is, the limitations with formatting (e.g. not even offering the ability to modify spacing between lines) are extremely prohibitive. Thank you for your work on a significantly enhanced version of Proton Docs. This will greatly increase Proton's viability for many more potential users.

This is also very important for me. I am using proton in school an not even things like sub-/superscript characters (like in chemical formulas) are even available.

This is true! I have made the switch, but importing all my docs meant learning that, for example, line breaks disappeared, no table of contents, and I had to open the docs on desktop before I could do it from mobile. These kind of fixes would be great. I can't sell my colleagues on it without something pretty close to Google Docs.
