Proton Docs / collaboration suite
(folders and docs similar to GoogleDocs)
Proton mail needs some collaborative word processor and spreadsheet in a drive where people can securely work on it but only the person who owns the files can keep them and no one can download them or copy them.
Proton now has Docs:
https://proton.me/drive/docs
And Sheets:

In order to use Proton Drive with big teams, we should be able to work simultaneously on docs as it happens with Google docs and the Office suite. Can you open Proton Drive to Office editors? Even the web version only would be a great added value compared to the current situation.
I would love to use my Proton Drive more but now the features are too limited for using it in bigger teams. -

Similar to Microsoft Office, I think Proton Office would be cool, 1 singular consistent app, multi-platform, with docs, slides, and sheets (possibly different names). Move docs from Drive into Office, and build other Office apps and that would be awesome. And obviously have it integrate mainly with Drive to store the files, and with other Proton apps.

Though Docs is an amazing product to add to the ecosystem, it alone cannot stand up to Google's collaborative ecosystem. With the integration of the full suite of LibreOffice and the online collaboration and end-to-end security of Docs, Proton can actually be a true competitor in this space, with the ability to work on documents, spreadsheets, pdf's, diagrams, and more.

Or libreoffice! Accually nextcloud has such features. So as nextcloud is open source you can just implement it.

please prioritize Proton Docs editing on mobile and desktop - whether it's in Proton Drive or a standalone Proton Docs app.

Importing the templates from Microsoft Word into Proton Docs would be really useful, I think. Working with the older .doc files too.

Agree with below. Well stated.

Please DO rebuild the wheel! Take your time and do it right. OnlyOffice is up to sketchy things, collecting and selling data back to Google and other companies. Any collaboration at all with OnlyOffice would go against Proton's core values, drastically slashing the trust and respect I have for Proton as a company.

I fully agree with soulton -- I am glad to see this being worked on, but additional format file format support is needed. I consider ODF crucial as this is supported nearly everywhere (including Microsoft Office for Windows) and the default option on most open source office applications (including both LibreOffice and OpenOffice). Plain text format would also be a good idea to support as this is compatible literally everywhere regardless of what office application (or lack thereof) someone is using, and Microsoft Office formats (both the original, e.g. doc/ppt/xls, and their new "Office Open XML", e.g. docx/pptx/xlsx) formats would be a good idea to support due to the prevalence of their software.
For sharing documents, export to PDF (if not direct editing of PDFs -- though that wold be a nice addition!) would be a good idea since PDF viewers are almost as universal as plain text support.
I would also like to parrot the desire of several users below and suggest adding spreadsheet support -- and add a request for slideshow presentations.

I know this is early days and this is very exciting to see, but eventually, I hope we can even edit, upload, and download in more open standards like the very well known ODF format, not to mention being able to edit plaintext files. Currently ODF documents are not recognized as documents at all and text files get converted to Word document format when it is entirely unnecessary. Keep up the good work!

AMAZING!
Three important things that are needed:1. Docs editing on mobile (and the ability to quickly toggle between accounts)
2. Spreadsheets
3. Link previews in Docs (with the featured image) -

Does this mean we are getting spreadsheet support? This is the key missing feature for me to switch away from GDrive.

I'm a Linux-Ubuntu user. I'd like a proton Drive Application for this OS.

I'd like to see the background that is outside the document "page" be a different color than the work area. That said, so far, so good. Looking forward to see where this is going.

This is FABULOUS! Well done! It's a big step forward. I'm all for new features with such usefulness as this. However, it's also critical to fix what doesn't work. I'm referring to the search function in Drive. I've put in a ticket for this months ago and it does not appear as if anything has changed. After the decrypting/indexing is complete, I search for a word (which I know exists in multiple locations) and I get a small number of "hits". I clear the search box, put in the same word again and THEN it gives me the complete list of "hits". That's a bug.

Great job Proton team and keep going!! Y'all have been killing it this year! I love all of the wonderful new enhancements and features you've released this year. I feel like Proton is finally getting to a place where I can recommend it to my non-privacy-oriented friends and family. I'm super super excited for Proton Docs and have already started using it. I can't wait for spreadsheets but I know it's far more complicated to build than a text editor. Kudos to the team and many thanks for your awesome work.

Import and export with ease - if possible, include also GDocs from GDrive
looking forward to docs as a first piece to Proton drive puzzle as serious alternative to GDrive or OneDrive

Good work on Proton Docs! I am just missing the most important puzle piece for myself. Proton Sheets (Excel/Spreadsheets) I hope this will be added with this later on?
